Hi all,

I would like to paint my Zed's balance bar but am unsure what kind of paint to use. I've seen stuff at my wholesaler's that'll withstand temps upto 650C - is that enough? Also, there isn't a problem in taking the bar off the engine right - assuming I cover all the holes and remember which vac tube goes where ...

Thanks for your replies!

Danny

Hello again Danny.

When taking off the balance tube, there will be 'o' ring seals between the tube and the inlet manifold. Keep these safe and be very careful when refitting the tube that they are located properly and not being pinched.

As for temperature, I would say 650C paint is plenty hot enough.

Hope this helps.

Iain (MAC1) did his :

I think he used paint from Harrys but I'm sure he will fill you in (literally if you are naughty in his bar LMAO!)

Hi Danny, I reckon the balance tube never goes above about 70/80C MAX so any paint should be ok.

I painted mine with Plastikote spray paint, from Harry's, stable to 150C..

Been fine, but scratches real easy (even with 3 coats of primer, 5 coats of colour and three of laquer..)

Danny dont paint it "Harve" has been around today and what a job he has made of mine, looks like polished stainless steel, respect geezer this man spent about 4 hours today polishing up bits under bonnet,

i only wished i had a digi camera to take pics of the work so i could post. 1st class.
