Ok, as some of you may know I'm crap with this kind of thing so please forgive me.

 

I'm gonna put new pistons in my engine rebuild but I'm going .020" (.50mm) oversize.

 

So I take it I need to get something done to the holes the pistons sit in? Made bigger to get um to fit? (See told you im rubbish) :duffer: :headvswal

 

Whats the called and roughly how much does it cost? :smash:

ask your local engine reconditioning place it's called re-boring you sure a re-hone wont do it?(which just skims the surface off the bores)

You'll need to get them to measure the bores to see how muchwear there is (they tend to wear oval). A hone and new rings may be good enough, or even the same size pistons as before. Too much wear means rebore, new rings and new oversize pistons.

This sounds like I could have written it...lolol :smash:

which ever machine/engineering shop you use make sure they have a copy of the manual as the tolerances are very tight with the 300 engine, last thing you want is a few thou taken off by accident because they were unaware
