Just had the zed out for the first time since november, just thought i'd give it a quick spin to the local shops and back cos its been stood so long.

i'd been on the road for literaly 1 minute and a police range rover passes me in the opposite direction i noticed the coppers were looking at my car as they drove past, i looked in the mirror and noticed theyed put their indicator on to turn off and realised they were turning round to follow me.

at which point i turned off and thought about putting the footdown to loose them before they came around the corner, i decided against it and drove at 20mph around the street and decided to head back home by which time they'd caught up and followed me at 20mph untill i was just about outside my door before flashing me to pull over.

as i'd suspected they'd pulled me because "they suspect my windows are too dark" he gets his light meter out and yup there too dark £30 fine and 10 days to sort the tints or they stop me useing the car. BARSTUARDS!!

now i know my windows look dark but i can assure you a blindman on a galloping horse in thick fog could see through them from the inside.

hows about a bit of common sense

sit in the car close the doors it was dull weather they could have seen how easy it is to see through the windows. the tints are top quality fitted in japan. and in my opinion are a main factor in the overall look of my car. and now ive got to change them for a tint very slightly darker than my living room window.

im well miffed

friendly/dodgy MOT inspector who'll sign the producer to say they've been removed ? ;)

If he is stopped again though wo'nt that put both MOT inspector and him in even more 5hit?? But good idea if there are no floors in it. :)

its a shame "THE LAW" doesnt use common sense,

would i have been 'done' if i had dark sunglasses on?

check if they are fitted in japan as an import do they have to comply with these stupid laws ....number plate on an import can be smaller than a uk spec for example

i had similar truck with a ****stable ..your windas are illegal he gloated .....take your sunglasses off and check again i retorted ......fickin thick prik he was ....i bet he felt a right tit .....1-0 to me so far but its only a matter of time before the new arm of the goverment tax collectors ( formally the police ) pull me for something like "being in possesion of too much hair" or "driving as to cause suspission " or some other made up *****x just to harras the motorist ....

good luck mate ..but if you can stiff them do it cos they wouldnt miss a moment to stiff you over......

ive had my car 3years and never been pulled, ive been next to cops in traffic jams and and at lights and they dont bat an eyelid just look at the car and drive off.

but this time

they said they've had these light meters for years but now theyve been told to use them due to accidents involving tints.

which is where im coming from when i say use a bit of common.

they could sit in the car and see if they can see through the window and if they cant either im superman or they "should've gone to specsavers"

i think mine are too dark. does anybody know how to get it off, i don't want to start it and have black tiger like stripes running down my windows. Is it just a case of tear it off or is there some sort of 'special' way????

cheers

cheers steve, never thought of that, i think it could be a long shot though.

does anyone know how i could find this out

unfortunatly its now illegal to have any tint on front sde windows of car, rear windows not a problem and mot tester cant sign off ticket for removeing tints, can only be done by vehicle inspectorate, mot stations dont have equipement for measureing tints. just be glad you dont have realy dark tints they could put a prohibition order on your car immediately for that, and it doesnt matter if tints were fitted in another country or not even if its actualy tinted glass they can still make you remove it. and yep i think it sucks too, police round here have actualy started issueing asbos against lads with modded cars.

wots this getting the ticket signed by an inspectorate business   i havent been given anything other than test results and fine ticket, they just said if i get pulled again and i havnt removed them i could face a prohibition order on the car

Just take consolation in the fact you are a decent person who takes pride in your car and that the traffic cop is loathsome scum hated by all.. I know who i would rather be!

COOONTS. and they are sooooo supprised when people say how unpopular they are? somewhere in your niebourhood a dealer could have been selling kids heroin but thats not so obvious so they look for cars to nick. Sorry i know its an exageration but was that really a worthwhile nick? I would get the tints changed to just within the law and hope he pulls you again then you can say........ you :xxx:

I think you got off relatively lightly, they could have issued a prohibition notice on your car and then it couldn't go anywhere.

HAVE A LOOK HERE...

WINDOW TINTING LAW

Surely that laws a joke. If I have to view "pedestrians and other motorists" through my side window as I approach them I'm kinda sideways and the last thing they should be worried about is if I can see them or not :)

As yampie dog said, they should have issued you with a 10 day delayed prohibition order which would then mean if you havnt removed the tints and had it checked by vosa within that period you would automaticaly be banned from using that car on the road. iirc it should be 10 days delayed if your tints are below 30% and its instant prohibition if thre above 30% would have to check special notices (mot) to confirm that though. think youve been lucky can be a real pain getting an appointment with vehicle inspectorate.

Well like i said, theyve told me to get rid of the tints in 10 days but ive only been given the test results and fined £30 ive NOT been told to get them checked by VOSA or anyone else but have been told that if i did get pulled again i COULD get a prohibition notice put on the car.

if you were given 10 days to get it fixed why have they fined you.?

As far as I am concerned sitting on the fence and saying " you got off lightly " is part of the whole problem with all this legislation being introduced. sitting back and excepting these shitty rules without arguing is why they are being imposed one after the other. I cant stand the way they are forcing us off the roads and soon enough you lot will all be crying into your hands when they finally introduce laws that wont allow you to use your cars. All the man is looking for is a bit of moral support. not another "how lucky you are to have only £30 to pay out"

cheers mate,

if id been pulled in a different city or even a different area of sheffield i think id leave the tints as they are .

but the fact i got pulled literaly just down the road i think id better get them sorted.

or does the fact ive not been told to get them checked give me another chance so to speak
