Right so it's in having a main seal replaced and PCV valves/hoses done as well.

All stems from a problem I had about a month after I bought the car. Dip stick blew out and sprayed oil everywhere when on hard boost for quite a bit of time. After that the main seal failed as well. Thinking it was breather related, I replaced one PCV valve...couldn't get the other fitted because I'm crap, anyway, dip stick stays in situ, it's not the tightest of fit, but none the less, it stays where it is. Engine still runs very very well and is as smooth as it's ever been.

Haven't driven the car a huge amount, car constantly stinks of oil due to the main seal and leaky/hard PCV pipes and one PCV valve that's not been replaced.

So, it's in now, having a new main seal, new prop shaft bearing, new diff and gearbox oil along with PCV hoses and the other valve.

Now, it doesn't smoke from the exhaust, well, it does on start up. When on boost, with the main seal gone, it sprays out of there a bit and you get smoke from underneath the car burning off on the exhaust. As I said, this is all being sorted at the moment.

It doesn't smoke at any other time, through normal driving, it will of course dump oil out of the exhaust at random intervals as most zeds do from time to time.

So, before it was jacked up, off came the oil oil cap and it was found that the oil was pulsing and blowing up a very tiny through the filler. I put oil in the car yesterday and dropped a fair bit down the sides, so it could have been that still burning off a little.

I am now very concerned as to whether the compression test due to be carried out tomorrow will provide unwanted results. Bricking it now. It's a low mileage car...condition of that is apparent too.

The oil pressure gauge does however still read as a normal zed does though.

Shit mate, I hope it's ok. It's no fun waiting with a potential big bill over your head like that.

Unfortunately they're all a gamble, these cars. If you want peace of mind you have to get a new Focus. But I guess we all know that.

Well, fingers crossed. I don't drive it hard anyway and the times I have come on boost, it's been fine, it's kinda strange. Does long motorway runs without any problems at all.

Knowing my luck, I'm sure it is very slight wear that's causing it. It would appear the engine is breathing, hence the shagged main seal...:(

si if the car runs fine then a compression test should be within spec,it may be down slightly on compression, but unless you had new rings then thats how it is

however you have only replaced 1 pcv then you have to remember there is 1 more pcv and 3hoses have the lot replaced, even the ones that go to the hardpipe-intercooler,as your getting the main seal sorted, then im sure the turbo oil feeds and return will be checked for possible leaks as with the rear cam seals and covers etc

if it smells of oil and there is no smoke from zorsts other than condensation, then id put my money on just a general leak which will hopefully be sorted, when its being checked over

Cheers Greg....I hope so too. Doesn't explain the oil cap off vapour though.

We'll have to wait and see. I am replacing all PCV pipes too.

....also Greg, it runs no differently to when you were in it with PJ.

Well, best keep positive, it still drove very well before and no doubt with Jason's expert hands, it'll come back suuppppperrrrrrr smooth. :)

He did say that it's one of the cleanest Zeds he'd ever seen which brought a huge smile to my face and asked if I cleaned it every day when he said he thought it was immaculate. :D

'Apparently', it looks like brand new underneath. :D

Anyway, a progress shot...first time I've had work done on the Zed.
