I have been playing around with the TPS and changing the voltage from one end of the scale to the other (.45 to .50 v) and it dont seem to make any diffrence to the way the gearbox changes gear, is it suppose to ?

Maybe i am not giving it enough time between changes to settle down, but i am resetting the ecu each time?

Whats your thoughts on this one guys/gals and have you had any success with this, or do you know another way to get the gearbox to change gear earlier or later in the rev range (or is it set by MPH).

Thanks

Uneducated guese, might be the speed senor you need to play with!

have been doing a lot of reading on the TT net, and a lot of peeps change the voltage @ the TPS to give them diffrent driving styles, but it dont matter what i do to mine it changes gear at the same rpm points ???

Yup, i reset it and i even disconnect the battery for 1 hour to make sure. I am gonna try tomorrow again and take it out of the recomended voltage range of .45/.5 i will try around the .40v mark and see what happens then, will keep ya informed.

I dont think that TPS has anything to do with gear change. One way to change the gear of the AUTO is to depress the pedal a little and then step on the gas again. You have to practice to learn this technique :)

But when you are at WOT the ECU will change the gear depending on the RPM. If for some reason yours doesnt change quickly enough and hits the REV limiter then there must be something wrong with your gearbox.

But like i said before if you want to change the gear earlier depress and then press the gas pedal again and it will change gear when you want to.

TPS WILL effect how the box reacts.

.45 to .50 v is not much of a change in settings, both ends are within the spec for normal TPS opperation. May be a faulty TPS? but should be changing ok if those readings are correct.

hks make an ecu called an alc which piggy backs into the auto ecu.they make the changes quicker and a lot smoother.i think they cost about £200.ive been in a swb tt auto with an alc and the difference is tremendous.

hey there baz, have you checked your oil level in the autobox!!

i had the same problem with mine autobox not changing up after 125mph just red linning, found the oil was low but have smashed the zed since so didnt get the chance to try it,

test the oil when warm and engine running!!

p;s i will have my hks alc for sale now as i wont be using it anymore!!

pm me bud for details

Guys, i dont have a problem with the box at all, infact its a new gearbox, and changing gear very nicely .......but i want to play around with the control side of things to see what does what. I have a HKS ALC unit, and all that does is change the oil pressure in the system and give you a harder (quicker) gear change, it dont actually alter WHEN to change gear, and thats what i want to do, if you get what i mean.

FASTREDZ do you have a series 1 or 2 ALC unit ? and if its a good price i might have it from you so i can take it apart and see if i can do somthing a bit diffrent with it ????

I have modded my one so i can switch it on and off :-) which is nice for when you are in traffic and you want to keep the gearbox cooler and when ya @ the pod you can switch it on.

OK get a dual ecu thet splits your driving style.
