could be any number of things, you need to be more specific.

Do the rev hunt at idle?

does the car die when warm only?

is there any smoke out of exhaust, if so what colour?

Is the oil clean?

Have you checked all the pipes in the enginebay are not split/secure?

etc etc you get the picture

sounds like its in get home mode. maybe a duff maf or connections issue

check all the pipes and electrical connectors around the engine. Could be bad MAF or that the wire loom is loose... expect to spend a while checking everything carefuly.

and GIVEN a TT lucky you... (didnt realise the price had dropped that much!)

does it idle ok... mine did this and all it was .. was water got onto the induction unit.. i had to let it dry after leaving it to idle for about 10 min.. then it was fine... but as others have said above.. could be anything.

99% MAF - pull off the black connector by the airfilter (or somewhere near the back of the airbox if standard - can't remember how it is standard!!) and if it's stil the same then that's your (first!!) problem! Putting the connector on/off a few times cleans the bits you can't reach, but you'll probably find the visible contacts are green!

good luck!
