The moment of truth....

 

My Z is unwell. Its leaking oil from underneath, did the famous card board test last night and it seems to be dripping from the rear of the engine. Its definitetly black oil and not red. There is a 5 to 6 inch puddle every night. Oil pressure needle slightly down. Haven't checked the oil level yet but need to do ASAP. I can smell a musk of engine oil burning certain times.

 

Do I panic ?

Does sound like rear seal, if it is, box out new seal box in done.

 

However it could be a bad case of excess pressure in the breather system or leaking rocker covers which is a pain.

Yep, you really need to get the car in the air, and try and find exactly where it is from. You could always take it to a Local garage for them to look.

 

If its rear main seal then your looking at somewhere around the £150 mark to replace.

if its a minor leak it will be fine to travel,just keep an eye on levels,most people drive there car with a leaking main seal for thousands of miles and do nothing about it,so aslong as you sort it soonish,it will be fine
