January 31, 200620 yr Sometimes after a quick blip of the throttle during driving the rpm can drop off almost to nothing and even stall. Could this be a dirty AAC ( aux air control) on the IAA ( Idle air adjusting unit) any help appreciated.
January 31, 200620 yr Most likely a few things need checking to set up the base idle and auxillery air valve response. Throttle balance TPS setting Ignition timing base idle setting Air filter check Making any other adjustments without checking the above can often lead to masking the problem rather than correcting the problem. January 31, 200620 yr Jeff mine is still doing that you'll have to have a look at her throughly when I bring her up next!
January 31, 200620 yr Yes Wolfman, was a bit of a compromise until some other problems are sorted out as you know, but now worries all sortable. Jeff TT
January 31, 200620 yr Author Hi Jeff Thx for your advise on the stalling probs. I am ok on setting up base idle and the tps setting, but what is the process for throttle ballancing? Thx Kev
January 31, 200620 yr "but what is the process for throttle ballancing" Engine off! Hold the left hand throttle stop closed and watch the right hand throttle stop whilst pressing the throttle cable down with your right hand, see if the throttle on the right starts to open before the stop under your left hand tries to lift. Adjustment is simple if required, look to the right hand throttle shaft, there is a grub screw secured by a small locknut, undo the locknut and then turn the grub screw out so there is excessive play, now slowly turn it back until it just starts to touch the base plate, test the balance again as previously mentioned, if ok tighten the locknut whilst holding the grub screw. it might take a couple of attempts to get it right, if the adjustment is quite large you may also find the tick over is effected, this is because someone has mistaken it for the idle adjust, you may need to adjust you base idle ( after this is done) If you do the first part of the test with the engine running and the throttles are out of balance you will be able to hear how high the revs rise before the late butterfly starts to open, shocking sometimes to find it is as much as 2000 revs! and that is not uncommon! In my experience I would say 7 out of 10 zeds we see need this adjusment, it is very unrecognised common problem, the throttle adjustment is mistaken for the idle tick over adjustment, do not think because you have had you car serviced at a garage it is ok, based on how many we see not all garages know about this including some not too distant one`s at that. Hope that helps Jeff TT
