hi chaps, can you help me please?

Every time I start my car from cold I get an overwhelming smell of petrol for about 5 minutes, any ideas what is causing this?

Regards

Scotty.

could be fuel damper see thread on trader's / AndyZ Fuel damper assembly (part 2267510Y00)

Cold weather problem there :x:

Basically in the cold, the rubber (of the fuel lines) contracts, so where they join the metal fuel lines, the fit isn't as tight as before. Remember these cars run very high fuel pressure compared to most.

A simple remedy is to go round with a phillips screwdriver and tighten up all hose clamps on the fuel lines (remember to remove the plate over the throttle linkage - there are lots under there).

In 99% of cases this will cure the fault and involves very little time/money.

If not then replace the hoses as mentioned.

Richard :)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I have the aftermarket fuel line kit, but still have to go around and retighten the connections every few weeks.
