I have all the rare bits you can't find :tongue:

When I was getting my powerflex exhaust done a young bloke with a five door 106 diesel came into the shop. His car had a huge bodykit on and huge alloys and a pastel blue paint job. He asked for, and designed for them to build, an exhaust system which had SIX 4 inch tailpipes and two 3inch centre sections with one exhaust either side running the length of the car, on show, in place of having sideskirts. I think the exhaust bloke thought he was taking the pee as he laughed a bit and quoted him £800, seemingly in an attempt to put him off. The bloke seemed pleased and added, in a serious voice, that he had a friend who was going to add a "smoker kit" which poured smoke from the exhaust on start up???!!!??

He then asked "will it make the car faster as it is really slow at the moment"

No shit sherlock.

pmsl... well i am not sure...

will it slow my car down .. being a NA and all.....

cause thats the last thing i wanna do...

anyway.. gotta de cat the thing asap....

will it slow my car down?

You have to ask yourself a question...

Do you want the exhaust to improve performance or for looks?

If it is for performance you will not do better than getting a custom zorst.

If you want a certain look, then who cares what the performance is like.

Just my opinion of course...

I have twin HKS Draggers on mine and for them to fit right I had to have custom straight through s/s straight through pipes (de catted) I personally have noticed no power drops but I have noticed slight over fueling. I am now thinking about a X system for more back pressure but I am un decided.

I think that there are issues with big exhausts and NA's. It's not as simple as the TT's where getting rid of back-pressure will aid performance. I also believe there's no (real) advantage removing the cats.

If I were you I'd talk to a performance specialist about exhausts, then find a supplier who can build what you want, and know's what you are talking about. And when you do that, let me know how you get on, my Na could do with a decent exhaust...

Good luck

:wack: hmmm will do. I want style and performance. I do not want to compramise on either... So this is gonna be tough.. I will take it to someone... to be determined...... and will let you know.. i want it dyno'd before and after to ensure no power loss ... and hopefully some gain... and of course it will look stylish....

Getting it dyno'd before and after will be interesting, be sure to post the results.

This is a very important topic for NA owners as engine breathing (getting air/fuel mix in and out of the engine) is the most limiting factor in terms of performance.

Mike...

...had my NA dyno'd a few weeks ago, peaked at 199.98 bhp at 6750 rpm - or was it 6500 rpm? It's standard apart from an aftermarket exhaust from a jap import TT - looks like the standard 4 exit exhaust, but it's louder (not to my liking).

As you say, ideally you should dyno before and after to prove the performance gain (or loss) - then you can speak with authority.

Mine had a powerflow exhaust on it when I bought it - far too loud. Sold it to a TT owner who describes it as quiet(ish). It shows just how effective those twin turbo's are. Point being that an afternarket TT exhaust isn't always the right way to go.

...tell hellraiser that he's got his wheels on back to front.
