Car is going to be either written off or repaired, depending on the insurance.

Small print on my policy says I have the rights to retain the salvage. Got a letter from them this morning, saying they would be willing to go along with my choice of repairer, if its repairable, which is my place of work. :D http://www.trucktecltd.co.uk

So weighing up all sorts of scenarios here ! One being the wide ass kit.

Questions that would be of help to know are;

1. Obviously I would need wider wheels and tyres, what would you recommend ? Prices also ?

2. Does the kit consist of 2 rear arches and a rear bumper ?

Would assume that the original bumper doesnt work.

3. Would be fitting it myself, so any hints etc will be much appreciated.

4. How much wider does the kit make the car ??

:hyper:

Cheers guys,

Alan.....

pm paulg, he has done his own and im sure he has photo's of the work as he went along

also you would need a rear bumper to fit the arches unless you modified the standard one like paul did

wheels, im sure people who have the arches fitted would recomend at leats a 10" rear alloy andf ypu may also need spacers

Cheers Allan ! ;)

Rear bumper is cracked anyways after the accident, so would probably be better to renew.

Any contacts or places where I can price alloys ?

Thanx for your help, :D

you will need the wide arch strosek bumper and also the sideskirts to

make the job look right. The wheels will require a 60mm spacer to bring

them out to the arches. All this is avalible at the Zcentre.

This job is not easy to do, and you should put the glass kit in a low bake

oven for 4 hours to expand any air in the layup of the matting.

Doing this will stop expantion blow out in hot weather

Hope this helps

Allan, the baking of the glassfibre archres..is this before fitting, if So should'nt the supplier do this after manufacture ? Or should it be done once fitted, before paint ?

You beat me to that question ! ;)

We have 4 ovens at work, so thats not a problem.

60mm spacers for the rear. Can I keep my present wheels then ?

Deep dish rims would look nicer, but trying to work out how much its all gonna come to.

Car would be about 5" wider overall then ??

Much appreciated for the advice.

Alan you really need 10 inch rears to make it look right

The kit is a pair of wide arches and skirts, you dont need the wide arch rear bumper I had a stock bumper with the SE underskirt when I first done mine a few years ago.

However IMHO the rear bumper has the right lines so I changed it.

Its a pet hate of mine when you see anything with extended arches and it has wheels that are too narrow for them! :( If you are gonna do it, spend a wee bit extra and do it right.

Any sizes on how much wider it makes the car ?? Also, any details on any place I can price wheels ??

Cheers for all your help guys.

Alan......

I think it increases the wheel track by about 8.5" , so just over 4" extra either side.

Yeah, could handle that !

Might seem a daft question, but increasing your tyre width, will it effect the Hicas operation ?

This should be done before fitting of any fibreglass body pieces to remove any traped airby poping thr surface gelcote, the offset of the wheels when the spacers are fitted will be a neative 30/35 (-30mm/-35mm) so pushing the wheel out to the arches.

I found about the airpocket process after my kit was fitted, so i dont know

if it was done to mine or not. only time will tell.
