I'm having a few things in the engine bay power coated because they are not suitable for chroming :headvswal ,, and while I was at it i thought of getting my brake calipers powder coated......

How easy is it to dismantle the calipers ?

obviously they will need splitting to be coated...... do they ?

thanks guys....

Not recommended to split them. You can actually get a good result with good old hammerite put on thickly by brush once they are cleaned up. If you were going to powdercoat you might want to grind the Nissan bit smooth though.

thought so, thats why I asked, i'll just get em hammer-smoothed then - shame cause the powder coat I was gonna use was a really nice bright metallic gold for the calipers...... oh well... never mind.

thanks.

You can buy proper heat resistant two part paint. It goes on really thick and dries nice and smooth.

I did my old car gold, but I wouldnt recommend that colour as the pigment didnt seem to be opaque enough.

thanks guys....... i'll go for the 2 pack paint, but if golds not the colour then i'll have to think what colour goes with dark blue, don't want dark blue calipers,i want them to stand out a little, maybe i'll do for silver.......??????

just got an email back from biggred......

£312.00 to do all 4 calipers in shiny gold  , rebuilt and refurbished and delivery included, not worth that much money, i'll just paint them !!!!

hmmmmm. I was charged £220 for all four...rebuilt and painted etc.....sort of alot of money, but you will pretty much never have any more problems with em after that...
