It's only been a week but i'm looking out the window at her now, the moonlight is casting a beautiful light onto her bonnet. She calls to me....but it's not to be...

It's the heater matrix you see, i can't see out of the FOOKING WINDOWS BECAUSE OF THIS OILY FOG  ........can't believe a heater can stop me enjoying my favourite thing...cruel :(

On most cars the heater hoses from the system under the bonnet goes into the interior of the car via one pipe and comes out after going through the heater via another. What you do is take both hoses off the connecting pipes and join them together thus by passing the heater matrix inside the car.

ah? so does this mine I have no heat in the car?

is that a good thing?

i think you may find,, and ryan will correct me on this if im wrong,, a water bypass is where there are 5/6/ or 7 little hoses that are in back of engine ,, are changed .

As they are almost impossible to get to without engine removal,, so when engine is or has bin removed everybody opts for changing these hose to one or two main ones,,

newer and stronger ,as the old little ones are more brittle and prone to breaking so its commonly known as a water bypass,

the one one viniboy refers to is also known more commonly as a heater matrix by pass, ,, just stopps the water going into matrix and all over your floor,, and is temporary fix untill new one is fitted , and you freeze your nuts off!!!

hth.. paul ,

I think what is meant is what is known as a 'top end bypass' which is carried out by removing the inlet plenumn to reveal a 'orrible mass of little pipes which usually end up leaking because they become perished through exposure to so much heat. They do not actually do much and are better stripped out and the system bypassed. A well worth excercise.

Yep, Redline did mine when I was getting an oil leak fixed, the plenum was off so I opted to have the extra work done...
