Hello all I'm a newbie so firstly hi!! I may have the opportunity to swap my current car for a 300zx! It's a G reg TT Targa Auto... Low mileage & apparently excellent condition apart from the usual rear spoiler issues. It's silver, I have seen pics & have to say I'm not over keen but I have seen that many modded Zeds to know that the most important thing is to get a good un as I can "make" it look the way I want.

 

So first question... SWB & LWB.... I have noticed that the one has the fuel cap in front & other behind the rear wheel. Any differences in terms of handling & how much shorter is the SWB car in length!? It's just that I'm wondering if the reason I like some & not others is cos of the look of the SWB!?? LWB is 2+2 & SWB 2 seater right?

 

Secondly I saw a Zed in the rides section resprayed in 350Z burnt ornage... It looks the danglies, so I was after any other pics or links to this or other similarly modded/coloured cars. (I spent an age going through the owners rides)

 

My play would be to get the car fit big alloys, subtle kit, sort rear spoiler & respray, retrim interior in leather & jobs a good un.....

well i am still saving for mine and im going for a LWB TT Manual as i want pneumatic suspension and can still put stuff in the back. what are your needs. if it's a fun/track car SWB every time, but if you want more than two ppl in the car LWB plus if you have to carry anything or want pneunamtiuc uspension or nitrous in the boot LWB will let you put luggage or what ever in the boot, HTH

Yeah see I'm with you Hellraiser... But the one on offer to me is a LWB & I'm wondering if I could live with it? It's convenient cos he would be prepared to do a px with me on my car... save me selling or him selling independantly etc....

 

Anyone got any pics of a SWB & a LWB side by side?? Would be interesting to see

Some people say the SWB looks better, some say the LWB looks better. In reality there is virtually nothing in it and most people cant tell the difference till you point it out.

 

Far easier to find LWB, as nowhere near as many SWB's were sold in Japan. (and UK was LWB only). I personally have no strong opinions either way, other than a SWB would be far less usable to me as I often take the wife and kids out on drives.

Thanks for the response.... & may I say that your car looks the danglies :) I was reading the thread about your new leather trim... very nice indeed, making the Zed feel very luxurious inside indeed I'll bet? Do you mind me asking how much they cost & whether they are better/same/worse than the one's that the Z Centre do!?

 

My only concern with the Zed is that it perhaps looks a little dated now!? (don't hit me).... But then I see a pic of one with a few body mods & it blows me away..... I'm just a little worried about owning a 16 year old TT that could go pop on me!? How smooth & refined do they feel when driving!? Compared to say newer cars!? I'm betting it doesn't feel dated from inside the cockpit eh?

Can I add pictures in here at all so that you guys can see the car I'm considering!? An advice or suggestions greatly appreciated :D

Looks very clean scott. Yes, a 16 year old car comes with no warranty. I've owned 3 of them and found them to be reliable everyday cars. There are some quirks you need to look for, but the search forum is your best freind.

 

Best advice I can give you is this. SWB are considered more valuable because they are rarer, but you could still come across an abused car which looks clean but will give you problems very quickly. I'm not the most technically minded here so i can't give you tech advice. But i will say this. The nissan 300zx Z32 is one of the finest all round sports cars to come out of the 90's. it has Character, performance ,pedigree, looks to die for and properly maintained the best value for money out there. As legrath said, It's hard to spot the difference between a LWB and SWB till it's pointed out. Good luck on you're decision!

Thanks Chewie.... Your car looks gorgeous. I really like the signature pic.... Thats the sorta look I'd gop for with the 99 style rear lights & spoiler... & that red looks awesome. It looks everybit the supercar in that picture. Pity this one is silver! Oh well.... Will be respayed soon enough...lol

I dont think there is a massive difference in looks to be honest. A kitted LWB can make it look shorter. Sometimes its hard to tell at first glance.

 

Saying that tho, SWB all the way lol.
