I'm in the process of making a unit that will attach to the power folding mirror switch wires and will fold the mirrors when the ignition is switched off, and unfold them when the ignition is swiched back on, save forgetting and getting your mirrors clipped while you're not at the car. Of course the switch would still work also.

Its gonna cost around £20 to make the unit up, including all the relays and a box to put it all in, just wondered if anyone else was interested in one as I could make a few while im at it? Let me know and I'll work it all out.

All the best guys.

It will take the form of a little box that you can sit under the dash out of sight somewhere near the switch. I'll make up some proper picture instructions so it will be a doddle to fit anyway.

It will only need 6 wires to operate: 3 to the switch, a ground, a 12v permanent feed (like the memory lead on the radio) and a 12v ignition feed which will all be explained clearly in the instructions. These will all connect through easy screw terminals. It’s also designed to have a little LED to show when the mirrors are operating that you can put next to the switch if you wanted to.

can you still fold the mirrors at any time as normal ?

im very very sad and like to play with them on long trips

i'd be interested in marketing this mail me :)

Hi

I already have this feature on my Zed, my partner made it from a relay which he bought from maplins for about £4, im sure he'd be willing to share this idea with other owners once his ban has finished

Can't you post his idea now?? :duffer:

what if you dont have folding mirrors could they be put on and then connect to the switch your making.

I looked into using one relay, problem is, its not the best plan to keep a relay powered for such long durations, and that all the time the ignition is off power is running to the mirror mechanism, which also isn’t a good idea. The unit I’m proposing to make has an IC chip to send the voltage for only a limited amount of time, which is a lot safer.

Also in theory, for people upgrading (dipone), all they would need is the mirrors and this unit and they would have power folding mirrors that fold in when the ignition is switched off and out when it is switched on again. I will work on this and make sure.

i think it could be done quite easily i will try (might of been done already) using one of your switches so i will have one deffo :hyper: just need some folding mirrors

i'm interested, we can then have a synchronised event in the shows " mirror dancing "...... yeah, I know, sad !!

seriously though, count me in another £20.00 won't be missed in the £1200.00 i've already spent on upgrades and i've only had the car 4 months.....

I'd be interested in one please..................................before they go up to £30-00 :D

Cheeky fooka :mac1: :D

I'd be interested in getting a freebie ...lol

i was really suprised to find that mine didn't do this anyway, i thought that was the point of it being a 3 position switch that the midle position would be auto,

i asumed mine was broken and was thinking about fixing it so could be interested too

of course i would need a new fitted cover to fit over folded in wing mirrors

Lol we can all dream.

Can you guys do me a favour...can anyone who wants one of these when they are finished Email Me so I have an exact list of people so I can work out how many components to buy in etc. and come up with a proper cost. If enough people want them I can make savings by buying in bulk.
