A strange one ...

While checking the fluid levels, I noticed the level in the rad expansion bottle non existent on the level stick. Started topping up and water starts leaking out under the car. Checked the rad filler cap and the level is brimming in there ?!!

Car is running fine not overheating. Iwonder if some bodge merchant has bypassed the bottle cause it's split maybe. Mechanics never cease to amaze me, as I've only had the car 4 weeks and it had a 'service' prior to delivery.

Any ideas ? before I take it in for a warranty claim ...

Hi Glenn,

I had a similar fault on a Monza gse, but esay to check. Check for a squashed or folded pipe first, if nothing, mix a strong consantration of food colouring & water 1/2 fill header tank with mix, clean filler cap as best as you can. Get a mate to be looking around & under the engine & blow till your noes bleeds. If you have a leak it will be seen insantly, if you have a deliderate stopage, you can trase colour by cracking hose connections until no mix is found. It works but dont get the bennz.

Glenn,

The expansion tank has an overflow opening on the

filler tube. It is not visible from the top.

When you overfill the expansion tank, the water will start

to leak under the car.

Could this be what's happening in your case?
