has anyone home-made a air filter splashguard?

im looking thru the forums and most people with after market air filters seem to have a splash guard..my engine plastic tray is gone too..has anyone made any of these items? is it recommended to get proper nissan part or cut something out of plastic? :confused:

I would like to be able to take my car out in the rain and not have to wory about it sucking in water

I have no undertray or splash gaurd...and no problems with rain. Some have had problems though. Would be simple enough to create spash gaurd. The original was just a piece of plastic about size of A4 paper that sat right under the filter.

im same as legrath.. no bottom tray or splash guard and all is fine.. guess its just luck if it effects your car or not..

Induction. I solved it by doing a Strosek convertion and putting

the smaller number plate in the scoop aswell as it being meshed.

No problems at all now

I think the main problem is water dripping down between the nose panel and front bumper which is directly above the filter ,this seems to happen more if you have an after market nose panel, i also had this problem . :headvswal

It was easy to sort out ,remove the nose panel and make a flat plastic shield to sit over the filter and use the front two 10mm bumper bolts to hold it in place , it directs any water to each side of the filter rather than on it. :hyper: :hyper: HTH

Yes boldy my nose panel looks similar to yours.When the water enters the mesh it drips down inside and ends up on the filter.I also got a problem with water settling in the plastic undertray.Just drilled a few holes to let water out but not too big to let in water coming in from below.Will make a better 'water deflector' after the rebuild methinks.

I think Steves grill has made up my mind to see how i go with it..if it causes me a problem then i will make up a guard from plastic..but it seems to be ok for most of you guys so I will give it a go..thanks for all the advice and your experiences with this problem :mac1:
