No on an auto it will only release and give you ssssttttt noise when you take you foot off the gas. but it wont do anything when the car changes gear.

cheers mate

I have a dump valve on my auto from the previous owner.. think they largly dont do anything for the car IMHO as an auto, but if you are after the noise only sometimes it is handy.. no noise changing gear but on lift off does give a good woooosshhhhh.

so maybe the best of both worlds from a sound point of view

i had apexi bovs on my Z while it was still an auto (converted to manual last year) and although it sounds as good, it must be a bit weird for a passerby when you rev up, dump, and then rev up a bit more in the same gear before changing up!

My Skyline was an auto that sounded quite stupid with BOV so put a recirlic back on.As SkylineDave said sounds very odd letting foot off gas to get the noise then carry on in same gear.
