Ooooooo nice set-up  Could do with a bigger screen though ;) and are those speakers big enough ;)

I'm hoping to be going for this....

It's the new Sony 50" bravia LCD rear projection TV, should go very nicely with my new up-coming Media Center :D

noooo 42" is more than big enough for my room and i dont like the sony lcd rear projections as they still suffer from a narrow viewing area, better than the older rear projections but still no where near the quality of plasma, i also prefer the plasma to the latest big screen LCD's!! upto 32" then LCD but over that then a decent plasma still blows LCD away IMO

The speakers need to be bigger ;) all thats missing is the sub to the system but the wife wont let me have it :(

 pmsl, I don't have that problem ;)

TBH, I was originally looking at the 42", but there are some damm good deals on the 50. Someone told me last year that the plasma's have a limited life span, and that a lot of household insurance companies won't cover them!! Viewing angle isn't a problem for me, I sit straight-on to the set, stuff anyone else  ;)

i think my panasonic plasma has a life span of 60 or 80,000 hours so even if its 60,000 hours watching it 10 hours a day which it isnt it would last over 16 years lol tbh as long as it lasts 5 years i would have had more than my monies worth ;)

Dont get me wrong for the money the sony 50 or 60 are great value and i did look at them

Mike

fook that, if you want size you gotta have a projector :D

and to give the room a tidy up :p

I'm a little biased towards Sony, all my TV viewing kit, and both units in both of my cars are all Sony.

And I certainly ain't (really good English there  ) knocking Panasonic, as I have every respect for them, they produce some very good kit indeed. I had a top-end Panasonic DVD player, with the built-in Dolby Digital 5.1 decoder, for a number of years, and the only reason i got rid of it, was because it didn't play anything other than original pre-recorded DVD's, otherwise I'd still have it.

I might even still go for a plasma yet, will have to see what's on offer at the time :D

it's great for watching the F1 with the full surround sound and sub-woofer going :D

I did loads of research before i bought the plasma and i'm a sony'ite as well but when it came to plasma panasonic make the best panels by far, what i did is go for the business unit rather that the normal "funky'er" home model as its alot sharper and built better, well according to various places anyway lol

Had mine now for 15 months and its not missed a beat, very happy and lets just say the x-box 360 via HDTV and 7.1 sound is just stunning ;)

  panasonic only way to go m8

on my 3rd panny plasma now (lol they keep bringing out new toys)

if your looking fo a surround system the Sony DAVX1 Hi-Fi Surround Sound

is the mutts, only two speakers but sound is awseome

got this setup in our bedroom and moved the other panasonic to the living room

lucky sod, i wanted the 50" version in the front room and move the 42 to the bedroom and wall mount it but she wont let me....cow

Do have a 28" widescreen pana lcd in the conservatory though ;)

lol she does complain about the sound when im watching it at 3am

and she covers her head with the quilt :x:

wanted to wall mount ours in the bedroom but have a 4 poster and couldnt get a good view everywhere, as not the biggeest bedroom and not sure the walls would hold it

I know I'm probably the only person that doesn't want a 42" screen!

(Well, not until HDTV is here and worth having at the inevitable price.)

I hate watching blocky digital TV on a 32" let alone anything bigger!

Digital TV is nothing more than painting-by-numbers.

It's superficially colourfull and is free from the old 'snowy' problems, but it has absolutely no detail.

Sorry, rant over.

Nice toys though Mike. :D

yeah, business or shop display models are much better built as they are operated for extended periods and designed to resist screen burn better.

and playing project gotham 3 on a 7ft wide screen in HD res with the full surround going is hard to beat :D

thats our problem, we live in a new house and its a knightmare wall mounting even a small picture never mind a bloody plasma lol

roll on a new house with proper walls :)

sky are VERY close to hdtv

probably only be the movie channels at first, but will deffo be going that route

plasmas are superb now, first one i ever bought when the first entered the market was a nightmare watching footy etc, (pixelation on grass) but no problems now and can't imagine watching anything else

Yyup I bought a pioneer 43 inch plasma just before xmas my own present lol, which after searching for over a year to decide which one I wanted forr picture quality and style this one blew the others away for me and then I noticed that what hifi?? mag rated it as best plasma for 2005/2006 which comfirmed my choice was good, I liked the panasonic too.

richard

I'm not going to move to a plasma/lcd screen till HDTV broadcasts becomes firmly established. My projector is HD ready anyhow, it'd just be a case of changing the normal TV.

very nice, B&W speakers and yammy reciever? Loving the bigarse screen :D Wheres the subwoofer though? ;)

Yep B&W Speakers and yamy amp, did have the denon a1 amp but when i got the plasma i wanted all the conections to be component and the denon amp didnt convert the sky etc into component but the new yammi does and i think the new denon does now but didnt a year ago lol

I did have the big vibe home cinema sub but it was too loud and we live in a semi so not worth the hastle and the big speakers have enough bass but would have likes the matching b&w sub as it sounds amazing.

all sounds pretty cool, I bet its awesome. I know exactly what you mean, I demo'd a B&W ASW850 after seeing the rave reviews on avforums, it really is a monster, 15", 1000w and goes to 16Hz , that would *really* annoy the neighbours ;).

Denon A1? You mean 'the beast'

1_mi_av_AVCA1XV_PSilver.gif

?

I was about to ask your opinion of the Denon but I think thats in a different league to the 2805 I'm after.
