Dash removal + some matrix questions.

Ok, im going to take the matrix out. (as per previous post about wet footwells :rant: ) Does anyone have any guides as to 'where to start" with regards to dash removal etc? Exactly how much of the dash do i take off? Is it just under the driver side i remove or the whole stereo surround etc?

And why is the matrix earthed.
