Hi guys, my zed is coming up for it's next service, is there anyone around the plymouth area who could do it, that i can trust!, while it's in for the service i need new pads all round too, this is the first service since i owned it should i do anything else apart from engine oil & filter?.

Are these jobs i could do myself? im quiet handy with a spanner :smw:

What i need to know is:

what oil to use?

what filters do i need?

what brake pads to use?..

Also i have an idle problem, when coming upto a junction or a stop my revs will drop to 0-100 and then pop back upto 1000 rpm then the engine hunts half a dozen times before it settles down, sometimes engine will stall but only if im slowing from high speed!.

I have removed the aiv valves and prvr system & cleaned the iacv according to the guides on this forum , but i had this problem before, my brother thinks i have a vacume leak on the near side down by the turbo somewhere! could he be right, i think i can hear it but it may be the vacume noise from the balance bar!!! (could i be wrong?)....

When this hunting problem occurs if i swith on my air con (the auto button) it is still the same, BUT if i put my front screen blowers on the idle settles fine at around 800rpm, then if i switch the front screen blower off it will settle at around 700-750rpm perfect until the next time it happens which is often. i have got into the habit of swith=ching my screen blower on when coming upto all junctions or stops now.

If i drive the car upto a junction or stop going down in the gears slowly coming to a stop the car will act normal 95% of the time. i cant work out whats going on please help, it's strting to drive me NUTS.. cheers

as your brother says its very probable you have a leak somewhere, car is getting on 12years+ in age! hoses split perish etc if you can hear a leak coming from the pass turbo, you can gain accses to the actuator hose from underneath the car on the pass side!

most common leaks appear around balance bar check tightness first of balance bar if its tight check o rings under balance bar are present replace if worn and smear a bit of sealent to give it a good seal!

other culprit hoses

s shaped hose centre back of plenum, tends to split will cause rough running idle if split, replace with new one if thats the case

theres also a small hose about 4inch coming from recirc pass side back of balance bar check and replace if split

if leak is still present find someone with a boost leak detector do a search on here its been talked about lots basically compressed air is passed through intake and under pressure,if there is any leaks it may be heard with a hissing sound from the area in concern

check this link on IAA aswell check connections to it,and clean if ness but read it first http://www.twinturbo.net/ttnettech/iaa/iaa.html

This problem is embarassing more than anything, the times my zed has stalled on me is countless!

I have allready removed and cleaned the IAA valve, it looked in pretty good condition..

Is there anywhere i can buy a hose kit with all the hoses? or would this be too expensive, just thinking it may be easier to change the lot instead of trying to find a leaky hose somewhere under the bonnet.

Oh and just incase, i read that i shouldnt be able to hear the stock turbos on my zed when driving, unless im going through a tunnel with the windows open and then they say ill bearly be able to hear them....The thing is that whenever my turbos start to kick in wherever i am in the rev range, or whatever speed im doing, i get a VERY noticable ouiet loud WHISTLE/WHINE, should this be happening??
