as some may know, my car has been hit by another. Ive had my mate round today to have a look at it and its a bigger job than i previousely thought, with all the other jobs that need doing (there are quite a lot) do i wait and see what sort of insurance (been qouted to get around 3000 and keep the car) and injuries (prob about 2000) then break my car and with all the money accumilated buy another zed

or do i stick with my zed and do all the work i wanted to do, like do repairs (again there are quite a few) and fit a body kit like macs and so on

im really losing interest with my previous zed but ive already spent so much time and money on her and love her to bits that i dont know what to do

im in two minds and its doing my head in, and on top of all of this i have a house that needs fully refurbing and time is short

please help, bearing in mind that this insurance could take months to sort out as the guy who hit me didbnt have insurance and its going through the mib

Keep her mate, spend a bit of time and money on her and she be up and running in no time.

3k to spend on a car is agood bit of money, depends how much the repairs are going to be, get a quote then make your mind up, good luck.

the easy way around it would be break it and buy another one. You cant be too careful when it comes to structual damage on a supercar mate. you just dont know if anything is cracked or fractured. dont risk your life.

its the rear qauter that is damaged, and it has been checked by an engineer (no structural damage)

but being a zed when i took the interior panels off in the back of the car there is a solid spot welded panel that i would have to drill out and replace

not too mucch of a job just time consuming, if i did keep it it owuld be recieveng a wide arse kit so would hide any repair anyway, but i need to get the door and qauter lined up properly

but i understand where you are coming from though bud

Like it says in your sig buddy

Is it worth the risk of losing that and ending up with a bad un?

I know it could go either way but 'better the devil you know?'

I think keep it.

sorry bud only series one lol

My initial thought was to break and buy another with the money - same views as Vini......

....however upon reading on, particularly as it's rear end damage (not too detrimental to steering - just bodywork, really) I reckon it's worth reparing.

Gio's Z was hit in the rear quarter by white van man a couple of years ago. That looked bad but after a visit to a decent bodyshop it emerged better than before.

You have a UK spec which is pretty rare now, plus it has a decent engine by all counts. Spend the cash and get it sorted the way you want, perfect opportunity for that wide arch conversion

Good luck mate

Richard :)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

cheers bud much appreciated :smash:

Keep her dude but not sure how the men in black are gonna help???

Again...I would have to say if you have already put a lot of work into it, keep :) ...If you decided to sell, you would do the repairs on the house, summer would arrive but you'd probably miss the car  :D

Then if you went out and bought another ZX, you may ending up spending more just to get to where you were with the first... :) :) :)

Simple answer mate..................

Is your Z mechanically sound?

Is it always going wrong?

Is the body work and the underside of the car in good condition?

think hard bud, and don't forget there are two of the nicest zed's you can get in the for sale section at the moment. sarg c and martinfa. both with the wide arse kit, that you want.

Break her and start fresh. I know for me once a car has been battered I take it as a hint to get rid of it. Also will this be some sort of write off?

Only one option mate. Wave her goodbye and bye either Zelda or Martinfa.

You know it makes sense

Yep, I'd agree with this. If I had the money spare I'd do the same.

Have you the car or has a garage of sorts got it ?there is a reason.

How much is the repair going to cost mate or is you getting the £3k after fixing it?

car is mechanicly sound, and underneath is also sound now that me and me dad spent two days repairing sill's and a bit of welding underneath, i can get the repair done for 200 quid (my mate can do it)

some of the people that have been in it have also commented on how well it runs and goes (like shit off a stick)

also i dont know how long it will take to get the cash through from the mib (and ourlass wont let me go to the bank and borrow on the strenght of it lol), plus i like the 2+2 not the 2 seater

then with the cash i can get my wide arse kit on, it aint a write off cause its a private settlement (it would have only been an economical write off anyway)

i hope i have answered all your queries, we will just have to wait and see what the future brings
