i think the gas struts that hold my boot open are ****ed as when i open it closes on my head after about 5 seconds (ouch). is this a common prob? where can i get replacements from?

Featured Replies

This is a common problem normally due to the original spoiler being sodden with water remove spoiler they work like new HTH :headvswal

mine has soaked water up like a sponge. so this is causing the prob? if i remove spoiler, dry it out then repaint will this solve the problem?

Also check if the weight has been removed from under the plastic trim on the tailgate.

If not, this might help.

Alan....

..or remove the ugly stock one and go smooth or aftermarket ;)

90% of them get damaged on removal, and those that have resprayed them find they start to crack again after a couple of months.

or just go smooth even better

Yes they do crack, if the standard one has started to deteriate then no matter how many times u respray it the cracks will return !!

I wouldnt. It will just go bad again. It's quite an effort removing the rear spoiler too. If you like the stock look, defo go for the replacement fibreglass one.

It will definately be the spoiler causing the problems though. You wont believe how heavy it gets.

i remember taking mine of.. well ripping it off.. it weighed a fookin ton!, i left it standing up for a while and there was water all over the floor under it..
