What are the best things to do out there and when's the best time to do them.

We're going for 2 weeks in October to Orlando with the kids (aged 14) and so far have got the Swim with Dolphin Experience at Discovery Cove booked and a 15,000ft Tandem Skydive (me only on that one   )

What else is reccommended...................?????

Cheers

Phil

How long you out for?

2 weeks - We're sharing a villa with some good friends of ours so there's 8 of us in total :D

All the usual mate-Disney,Epcot,Sea World etc.......All brilliant!

But be warned!-you'll be fooked when you get back! :D

2 weeks is no-where near enough, and yep, it'll be the hardest 2 weeks holiday you'll have, you'll need a holiday to get over it!

went last july bud for 2 weeks really wasnt long enough I thought, was bloody hot then though but that was nothing compared to iraq so found it ok.

if you enjoy swimming I'd recommend all the water parks bud blizzard beach especially in the lagoon is a 6-10ft wave can remem exactly ever 90 seconds

if your a good swimmer you can just make it right out in the deep before the next lol

Seaworld is another 1 not to miss

if you fancy a bit longer trip bush gardens

mgm studios

universal

I could go on an on bud

hired a harley

took 14yr nephew on shooting range (I was Small arms qualified a few years ago) but you can get coaching if required

cost $70 for targets, 100 rounds all protection glasses etc ohh an a glock and .38 special :D

Mark - we'll discuss what you did at the next meet

David -I'll suggest the gun thing to the lad when he gets back from his dad's. I think he'll like the idea tho' :D

 we went 2 yrs ago for a month best holiday by far going again this year but be warned take plenty spending money and empty cases very cheap to eat go for breakfast at ponderosa on internaional drive about 200 different things for breakfast keep you going all day parks are great for adults and kids alike hire a car very cheap fuel . Explore busch gardens Tampa bay is a good park for rollercoasters all in all brilliant holiday hope you get good weather

Went over in August 1992 for 3 weeks, was bearly long enough to see all the usual, all disney (had a 5 day pass), bush gardens, universal studios, wet and wild water park, gatorland, the keys and the everglades and kennedy space center. August isnt the best time to go, it is the most popular so has the most queues for the rides in the park, some your queuing up for an hour or so, its very hot IIRC the hottest we had was 105F in the shade.

Went again in Feb 2001, although didnt go to all the same parks etc only went to disney once and universal studios, since they had a complete new park there this time, it was still very hot but the queues in the park where at most 5 minutes. Dont think i would ever go to florida again if I did it would be around feb time.

If you get the chance, I would recommend a visit to Kennedy Space Center. The 2nd pic is of the Saturn 5 rocket which put man on the moon, I took the 5th picture back in 1999, it's part of the International Space Station (ISS) undergoing tests, the picture on the right is one taken of the same module during the last shuttle mission. You need a full day to do this tour but it's very interesting.

Good luck. don't go out late at nite in down town. if you run out of ciggeys get them when the sun comes up LOL.

PS...& don't go nite fishin on your own like i did they are not big fish splashin around they are Crock's....LOL...honest I did that sh**. never again.

been 3 times now - its my fave destination!! :)

theres no way you will fit it all in in 2 weeks so dont even try!! you'll end up rushing about & wont appreciate it!

best advise is plan all you want to do before you go, that way you wont waste a day or 2 trying to sort it all out when you get there!

discovery cove with the dolphin swim was probably one of the best things iv done in my life! it is a little expensive but you are there for the whole day, get fed, swim with dolphins, get to swim with & feed stingrays, sit on a white sandy beach & get another day at Sea World (also a top day out! - check out thier roller coaster "Kraken"!! )

the Disney package comes in so many varietys, check to see what one suits you best! you can buy tickets just for one park all the way up to 14day hoppers that allow you access to all the parks as you want. prob better with small kids for a long pass TBH, blizzard beach water park is a must to check out IMO.

Universal Studios do various deals too with thier other parks & is better for older "kids" IMO ;) Islands of Adventure has some top rides! :hyper: Busch Gardens is a nice day out with some top rides too! a bit of a drive but worth it!

If you plan on doing shopping then visis Belz Shopping Mall, oh & take the very bare minimum in your cases going out! 1st time we went I had to buy another extra large case :o :D

eating out - Ponderosa for brekkie everytime for me!! about £3 for eat all you can - & theres everything from cooked breakfast, cereals, fruit, cakes, jelly, pancakes, ice cream etc etc!!! Shoneys do a nice lunch & cant go wrong with a steak at Sizzlers in the evening!! Black Angus steak house is top grub too!! if your into sea food then check out Angels on the 192, very nice food in a 50's style diner! soooooooo much choice tho

could go on for hous here!!

me and the wife went to the angus steak house.... it was deserted the whole time we were there, the prices had gone through the roof there we were told... we found out too!! went once.. didnt go back..

there was a kobi steak house there too, i wanted to go in but the wife wouldnt let me spend 200 dollars on a kobi steak... mmmmmmmm
