Morning all :D

Just been onto a alloy wheel refurbisher, and although I wanted my OEM alloys polishing up (@£95 + VAT EACH!!) I've come across this, (no not the alloys, the finish) and was wondering if this finish would look good on our OEM alloys?

What do you think people?

not mine as they were painted black to match the car but I like the finish...

Yes I do, but a lot of preparation (eg polishing) may be required. The finish under the paint is not that great.

looks like a nice finish. as andy said, it looks like it needed to be prepped better but i like it. may look a bit OTT on standard rims though? having said that, its more subtle than pure chrome. i like it.

Right, there is NO polishing required on this finish, it is puerly a sprayed application and a full prep beforehand and full finishing afterwards. For our 16" alloys they quoted me only £45 + VAT per wheel. They offer a 1 day service as well, where you take your car to them, leave it there for the day, come back later and it's all done. Wheels off, tyres off, wheels done, tyres back on and wheels back on your car, all for an additional £15 + VAT per wheel! Now that I consider to be very good indeed.

sounds cheap enough mate. i take it thats shadow chrome then? or is it a metalic-based paint? (cant really tell in the pic)

That's shaddow chrome. I'd go for it, but would get your windows very lightly tinted I think to compliment it.

i quite like that finish it would compliment my silver tinted rear windows just nicely :hyper:

I must say I dont think they will look too good on the OEM's. I had a refurbisher come to my home and do all four of mine for £170. I dont know if they will travel as you live as I am in Surrey but if you want the details let me know.

By the way its not the wheels in the pic I replaced those with the OEM's

Dave thanks for posting this. That finish is the mutts though I really don't think you'll be content with the standard wheel even if they look bling, because they are just too small. 18" is the minimum size to look right. The £300 your thinking of spending would be more than half the price of a new set of 18" without tyres.

Why not wait till ya rubber needs replacing and get some 18"s with rubber. It'll only end up costing you £300 more than the tyres alone so in effect the same as your going to pay for refurbing.

You know it makes sense.

Hi Octane H147 as on pic of arse end of my car. Now for sale at Tweeks for £900 with Yokohoma tyres. + H142 which is similar to my new wheels but only 9J on rear and 8J front are the same price.

By the way Dave, I can personally recommend Lap-Tab - they've just done mine and I'm VERY happy with them (the finish is 'high power silver'):-
