there all a bit cheap arnt they? thought they would go for more then that.

Some very cheap prices there Stuart. Maybe lot 7 was an N/A? I might head down there for a look next time there is a big auction (maybe after Easter).

Out of interest, do you have to be a dealer to bid or do you just pay a deposit and register as per most open auctions?

Hope to see you this year!

those are actually around the average prices for a z32 at auction.

yep no drastic drops really

don't forget you have to add registration/mot and buyers premium at the auction so add approx £300

i regularly go to the one in liverpool and prices about the same, don't forget the MAJORITY of these are standard so still worth it in a lot of cases to buy one already imported and money been spent on, ie compare what say sgtc has bought and spent on his add up what it would cost you to do it:(

private buyers can bid, just register your details with them and pay a deposit

if your registered trade the buyers premium is approx half

how do you find out when and where those auctions are gonna happen? I assume the cars are unregistered etcso you would need a trailer??

thats the liverpool one m8, not sure about the southampton one

if you have trade plates just drive them off, ALTHOUGH if you have insurance

you can drive it from the auctions "if your taking it straight to a test station" :nelson:

i see loads driving them away and never seen anyone stopped YET

Hi Steve

Happy New Year!

The auction is mainly the trade and dealers. The general public are welcome, you have to pay £400 deposit to get a bidding number, which is returnable if you don't buy anything. There is also a £150 indeminity fee charged on each vehicle, fairly standard at car auctions. None of the cars are registered of course, you have to get that done youself, no big deal. It is A1 carauctions every monday. they put their catalogue on line each weekend.

10 years or over don't need an sva m8;)

Yeah just noticed that anything newer than Jan 1st 1997 requires an ESVA and the rest are OK and dont think any car I would buy would be classes for an SVA test either. Woohoo. Looks like Im away to buy a 4th car then.

generally even those that do need an sva are only minor problems

ive put a couple through now and its been stuff like

tyres, sharp edges, radio expander, kmph to mph calibrating speedo etc

the problems start when its something thats never been tested before (new model) also kit cars can be a nightmare

so you can put them through yourself at FAR LESS than what the approved places will charge you;)

Not a very good way to promote your company m8, but thanks for the hint

Some people in the business dont really know much about the cars anyway (sounds strange but a lot of you will agree), just know how to make money and prefer the ease and guarantee of doing it through reputable companies. Also good for selling their cars on too. I remember agruing with a company who sells a lot of MR2s in Dundee area about some of the specs of the models and I knew he was wrong even after selling probably >40 MR2s. And I only ever owned 1!
