Neighbour has a L reg BMW 318, tried to open elec window when still frozen now doesn't work. Didn't have time to really investigate but could still here a click coming from inside the door when pressing the button, any thoughts greatly appreciated.

Could it have burned the motor out? Hopefully not, unless it was shagged anyway. Fuses?

Was wondering that, but you'd have thought there would be no power going to the swittch/whatever inside the door :(

The click is probably just the relay I'm afraid, so you'll hear it even if the motor's knackered. Had a similar problem on my Z which turned out to be a dry solder joint on the control unit.

When I was problem-solving my window, having taken the door apart I ran a lead straight from the battery and just shoved 12V to the motor. Worked fine, so the problem was somewhere else!
