which resistor!!

hi i am going to bypass my det sensor and need a 5 ohm resistor.

went to the nearest maplins they havent got any 5 ohm resistors left so i brought the 4.7 and the 5.6 resistors, which one shall i use?

also is it necessary that i use a 5ohm resistor?

last question, whats the difference?

It's a 1 meg ohm resistor you need, nothing else will work.

You can manipulate resistance by placing them in series and parallel but at the moment the equation escapes my memory but if a value like 5 was required it could be done. However how did you come to the conclusion of requiring 5 Ohms?

I assume voltage is approx 12 volts so what current is required and I can work out resistance to achieve that from Volts = Amps x Resistance.

Hope this makes sense?

just checked the past posts about det sensors, i need 1megohm not 5.

my mistake sorry for the trouble guys, will get one asap!

relly dont know where i got 5ohms from.
