you can have a twin turbo, a non turbo, a short wheel base, a lng wheelbase, manual or auto, import or uk targa, convertable, or slick top te list is endless

be more specific with what you have already seen and more help will be on its way

I personally would try and find a UK model, slightly cheaper to insure but not always in the best condition however in reality and the fact they are only available as imports would be to get a short wheel base twin turbo manual.

Sorry mate, I've got one lined up, a TT auto, I meant I dont know what I should be looking for to tell me if it's a pup or not.

(did that make sense)

I think the model to avoid would be an auto import as they dont have separate oil coolers for the gearbox like the UK auto's.

What area are you from? I recommend subscribing, money well spent and I'm sure someone would pop along and view the car with you?

I'm looking at this one:http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NISSAN-300ZX-TWIN-TURBO-T-BAR_W0QQitemZ4602059102QQcategoryZ18238QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Looks clean enough but I wouldn't touch an import auto especially with that mileage. I recommend being very patient and view as many as you can.

give smithy a ring hes also from isle of wight he might be able to offer you advice, assistants in some way and he sells plenty of bling products for zeds.

LOL cheerz yas your right, approx 250 miles apart.

I'd have to argue that theres nothing wrong with import auto's, they have a fairly high failure rate, but so do the UK ones.

I personally wouldn't buy that one, because 125k is quite miley for a twin turbo, turbo's are probably at the end of their life, and because it doesnt have leather.

Still, my best advice for somebody buying a zed is that you should budget in an engine and gearbox rebuild because failure is not unlikely, especially with the age and mileage of zeds these days. Whatever you do, make sure it isnt a rotbox, a lot of UK zeds have major rust problems now, imports seem a lot better in that respect mainly because they dont salt the roads in japan, but no doubt after a few years of british winters they will start showing signs, a good waxoyl wouldn't go a miss.

And to finish off, i'll repeat the old saying that if you can't afford two, then you cant afford to run one, and if you cant afford 3, then you cant afford to run 1 lemon.

have to agree, my last 5-6 cars have ALL been imports and the pros FAR outgun the cons, all the cars ive bought from import have been SUPERB condition, even the insurance is not an issue now, if you look round you can find good deals (dependant on age etc)

99% of the time i would prefer to buy a 10-15 year old car from import than a uk

The Ebay car being an import, its speedo is probably in Kilometers, which is about 75,000 miles, which is not a problem normally with the turbos, but the gearbox is something else. My car a 94 TT import had gearbox problems at 40,000 miles, and when removed, it was not the original. Firstly, I would recommend a manual, definitely an import because of less corrosion, most important of all, if you no absolutely FA about them, find or pay someone who does to look for you. If not buy from a dealer and buy a warranty. They are too technically complicated for you local garage to repair, and besides, usually when you lift the bonnet, 99% of garage mechanics start shaking their heads. Be warned. Be wary.

I also agree ive had my j spec tt for 4 yrs no autobox probs so far (touch wood) as long as say a car has been maintained properly theres no relevance wether its import or not apart from minor spec differences and insurance issue which not all companies are bothered about.

Thats not a bad looki zed (from the pics). Miles are sky high though (if its miles, not so bad if it km), and personally i wouldnt go for an auto. With the price of zeds now, i reckon you could do a bit better. There are plenty available with leather and aftermarket alloys/exhausts.

Have a nosey at this

Looks a good buy in my opinion
