take a tape measure, go and measure the size of it ( the battery), if you look at the top it should have and amp rating, write these down. Check which side the pos and neg terminals are on, write all the details down . then go to halfrauds or costco or wherever and buy the one that matches.

Battery code 069 for UK

and 096 for Jspec!

Also stick the word batter into the forum search box, and I am sure it will bring up a couple of posts saying best type etc. HTH

073 is the heavy duty to the 069 but check the terminals on a 069 i had a garage try to sell me one and the terminals were the wrong way round for the z apparently it's a z31 battery and none of the suppliers updated their codes , i've got a uk spec and fitted a 096

hi guys

trying to find out the battery size/code for my z

if jap then code is 068, 069= uk

if jap then code is 068, 069= uk

Dead on!

Chunk, im ashamed of you!!!

Why would there be a diferent UK spec battery and Jap spec battery? alternator output and electrical toys are the same, as is location and terminal positions etc?.........anyone

not sure they say 069 for uk spec but the terminals are wrong 069 would put terminals at the front of the battery when it's mounted and the leads wont reach as i posted before it's the z31 code but uk sppliers think it's the same caras it's still called a 300zx the book i looked at listed 300zx from 83 to 96

I am not too happy  my zed had been fitted with a new 065 when i bought it and now i need to change it to fit the new battery clamp as the 065 is not deep enough!! and mine is a j-spec.

The terminal positions are the opposite way round on j spec and uk.

Quoted by Berks

"The terminal positions are the opposite way round on j spec and uk"

Sorry to disagree mate but they are the same, changed countless zed batteries in the last 8 years, this is the same confusion that seems to prevail with battery companies application books etc, even Halfords to name one have the battery wrongly listed as they do with the dip beam bulb even for the UK spec, they have it as a H1 when it is a H3.

The terminal positions are the opposite way round on j spec and uk.

terminal positions are def the same between uk and jap it's just the uk listings are wrong for the z32 they all list z31 batterys from 83-96

I always thought they were different....Terminals at the back, with Positive on engine side and negative on wing side for uk and jap ?

thats right, only difference with 068 batt is terminals are on back so you dont have to extend leads, were 069 terminals are on front and leads wont reach batt.
