could be the speed sensor on the gearbox, try removing the connection and cleaning it.

tried topping up the PS fluid ?

if yours is an import, then a speedo convertor may be fitted this can commonly cause the steering to go heavy, this is due to a poor connection from the speed sensor, check wires from speedo convertor,if the problem still persists after, check or removal then start to think something else, speedo convertor is located under the hood that goes over the clocks speedo etc,2 screws. There is a lot of similar problems other people have had,use the search facility above to find further info

greg does the hicas and power steering use the same resevoir?
