Whats the best way of telling the year of my car?

I have not found any place where I can check UK chasis number but, looking at the specs of the dirfferent cars I have a slight mungral.

My paint colour AG2 says 1990, My mats, which I presume are the original ones, say 300ZX, but the interior light and ingition lights up when I open the door, 1991 feature.

My Z is UK and the date of registration, is 21/3/91.

Any Ideas?

Jealous, your ignition lights up?

I read somewhere that the door lock is supposed to light up aswell on pulling the handle!

My Bro had that nifty little feature on his Prelude which was ultimate cool.

Is it something that you lose when you get an alarm install???

Well I presure it lights up. I have never looked but it has that clear plastic around it that glows when there is a light behind it

My ignition lights up. I think it might be a series II thing. One of the plans I have for that site is a list of the differences (robbed from the Jap site wink.gif)

Its a UK car which only appreared in the UK in 1991. But I think it must be one of the first in the country looking at the date

As it's a UK car you can ring Nissan Customer services and they will be able to tell you. I did the same for a UK spec car on an N plate that turned out to be an '89 and within the first 30 imported to the country.

Yeah, thanks Andy, I just emailed them with my details of my car asking then when was my car Manufacutred..

Stuart

Year of manufacture is printed on the seatbelt label.

Jules.

I know that is true for Jap cars, I haven't checked a UK one. However, bizzarely (sp??) it is not true for NZ and Aus Jap imports because they have the seatbelts changed for compliancing !

Really that only tells you when the seat belt was made. Nissan will have a stock plie of maybe thousands or seatbelts, its prob the same belt for many Nissan cars. But a seat belt could only be used on a car 6 months or so after it was made.

Mine is a 1991 Jap import and the ignition lights up on it. It doesn't seem to have any of the other Series II features.

Mine is a UK 91 and the ignition surround only comes on with the side lights not the interior lights.

Mine's a 1990 uk tt, my ignition surround lights up with lights on. Also Timmy Turbo, I stripped doors down last summer (to respray car) and found that the key holes do indeed have clear plastic surrounds. All mine need is bulbs and wires. Who's light up then???

Seems strange for Nissan to go to all the trouble of designing and manufacturing these things, and not fit bulbs??
