OK my car is half stripped for 60k service, and then without doin anything it started leaking oil, and on closer inpection it looks like its comin from the back of the engine.

Does this mean engine out?? if so is it as big a job as it sounds?? If the engine can be left in, what am i lookin for??

I hear of peeps with the likes of the 200sx sayin they have the engine in and out all the time, easily, but I'm sure its not that easy on these big buggaz, but as all the rad stuff is out of the way, thought now was a good time ;)

Please gimme as much info pointers as possible, as I wanna get this sorted while the cars apart, and don't wanna fook it up :(

Cheers Guyz

could be rear end seal, it was mentioned on a old post that you have to drop gearbox for that not 100% sure if thats true about dropping box to replace seal.

There a fair possibility it is the rear crank seal and that entails dropping the gearbox to change!

It's just started leaking oil! :confused: :confused:

Have you got the lump jacked up at the front or sommat'?-did it leak before you touched it? :x: ;)

:rofl::slap:

front is jacked up, but it has been that way for like a month, then went into garage and a puddle of oil had appeared, baffles the fook outta me.

Bet it's the rear seal then bud-when it's back together and on the deck, you will have to see if it still leaks!-might be lucky! :o

If it does-g/box out I'm afraid! ;)

rear cam seals,either from the rocker covers themselfs or the half moon inserts,plenum removal is required

or rear main seal gearbox removal is required

look where its dripping from is a good sign ;) ,if its the rear seal then oil will mainly be dripping of the gearbox

if from above the gearbox then likely its the rear of the cams

could also be one of turbo oil feeds,get car back togehther,then start it,see if you can see where the leak is coming from,clean old oil from the areas,so you can see where future leaks are
