Is it true that these engines have some kind of sheer pin that connects both banks of 3 cylinders together? The idea being if a piston seizes on one side it still allows you to drive on the good bank of cylinders through the sheer pin snapping? A guy who works on jet engines told me this. It kinda makes sense but is it really true???

I don't think so. The only failsafe that I'm aware of is in the ECU and covers stuff like AFM failure.

for this to work you would need a 2 piece crank, 2 cam belts to each of the individual cranks & running on only one bank would be a very bad idea as a "limp" mode anyhow!!
