Well guys i new this day would come, i had my call up papers today in the post, have to report on the 27th feb at catterick to my medical and fitness test.

 

I could just fail it all then let them fuk me off but sumthing in my head says it will be a laugh to go back in for 10 months. at least i no i come out straight away. told my boss when i got to work tonight he is well pissed off, just as he finds the perfect CP team i leave, it doesnt help, me been the main CPO.

 

just sumthing i need to know that im not to clear about, can the company i work for get rid of me or terminate my contract.

really don't know, but would have thought it would be a fixed amount of pay, think who ever you are working for is leagley and morally obliged to confirm to what ever protocal is set

They Should, we had a guy got called up 2 years ago, was away for 18 months, and the company kept his vacancey open for his return, and the mod matched his salary.

I heard that to mate but i dont know how true that really is, we will have to just wait and see, im not TA im a reserve ( when you join the army you sign up for 22yrs so if you get out b4 then, you can still be called up until your 45yrs old) i got out after 6yrs mate so they can call me up as many times as they wish until im 45 unless im dead ............................................................................... i signed off from the army, then 6 months later got told i couldnt and got sent to iraq, out there now on my 2nd ****ing tour! but its a blessing in disguise as i can now afford to buy a z. what cp company u with mate? im in 2 para and looking at doing that soon as im out (sooner the better!) might see u out here!

Karl, We had some TA blokes working with us and they were being paid three times what the other blokes of the same rank were on. The Marines had to match their civvy wage due to them having mortgages and so on at that level. I don't know the rules on wages when you are recalled but I'd imagine its the same. You just have to show proof of earnings.

I'm pretty sure that your employer has to keep the job for you, rules of reserve forces and all that. There's probably ways around it though, I guess. Good luck anyhow. Dave

All i can say mate is keep your head down and good luck fella, get a job inside :D

Oh and yes we are going back into Affganistan early next yr and if Blair and george get there way people could be looking at North Korea next :x:

I got same payscale as job and job was protected. Same with mates.

sorry to contradict Matt but the laws have changed now the company you work for by law has to keep your job open if mobilised, also the army has to pay you the same rate of pay as your job so you can still afford your mortgage etc

 

things are different if you volunteer. ;)

thx all, i will try and answer all the questions i got asked, they want me to go for fitness test on 27th feb thats a piss easy test now anyway, then medical, after that you can be waiting till the next lot of OP TELIC goes out. I worked for 2 companies whilst out in Iraq as a civi first was Hart security then CRG, i was in the RGBW for 2yrs then did my Pathfinders, stayed with them for about 3 and half yrs. It stays in the letter that i got that i could be away for 10 months, not the normal 6 months why i dont know, i went into my local army office and asked them, they didnt know so i rang glasgow and they said coz of my back ground and constant active duty in hostile environments i can go back to the PF that are conducting OPs out there, now im thinking thats *****cks coz you never go back to what you come out of i thought, plus if thats the case i think thats why i have been told ten months, its gunna take a few months to get my feet in it again and learn all the new stuff we have.( you watch i will end up as a pot washer LOL).

 

as for shows i fuking hope so jason i mist alot out last yr due to been a late arriver on the 300zx scene and i will have a few more things to show off aswell.

 

i asked what is the latest i can be called up for and there reply to me was you can be called up until your 45 and if you was a WO1 you can be called up until your 50. So in nut shell the army still can fuk my life up, i tell you it pays to be a MONG in this world.

 

i hope they do keep my job open coz i have a good job at the moment and we have a great team, but i spoke the HR department and there saying that i didnt tell them that i was on the reservest list, but they employe a few ex forces so they should have known this also i wasnt asked so i didnt think to tell.
