cadpaul has borrowed birds road angel and he cant get it to work, it just keeps saying searching for satellite

anyone know how to remedy this, and get it working

Featured Replies

I have a road angel classic and to get a satellite I need to locate the system in the front right hand corner of my zed. Hope this helps.

cheers bud will text and tell him, anyone else

I had exactly the same problem with mine. I sent it back to Blackspot - the manufacturer and they replaced the "Engine" (?). Now it is fine. :hyper:

when you first plug one in m8

it can take up to an hour to memorize satellite's

then after that within a minute or two every time,he may find

its because he is using it in a different position in the car

and is he driving while trying to find??

best thing to do is park up outside the house put it in position and leave it

no good parking say in the drive between two houses for the first time

it probably won't find any

do the above and SHOULD be ok m8;)

Tell him to plug it in

I dont know why he's having the problems, its worked for me fine, I have had it out of the car for a couple of weeks though as its been broke.

I might try sending it back to backspot but i dont know.

For me it used to sometimes take a while to find a sat' but then when i'd stop at lights or something and pull away again it would locate them.

We use wayfinder GPS units at work, we have found the GPS units won't work through some types of tinted windows. The manufacturer confirmed this is correct "Might a told us before we bought 20"

There are also some windscreens which dont allow the satellite signal to get through.

I know some pug windscreens do this, as my dash GPS wont work in my pug.

Its not that they made it so it wouldnt, it has some VU protection or something in the windscreen and the side effect of this is the the GPS signals are also blocked.

i assumed it was going in a Z??

as above if you have a heated front screen your more than likely to need the

signal enhancer which can be bought from blackspot

I was told it wouldn't work properly if ya had a heated windsreen due to the interference.

I dont think he's got the Zed with him!!!

I got my Roadangel 2 plugged it into my laptop and it stayed on 'searching for sattelites for hours' - First time i put it in a car and drove it after 100m of travel it started working. I find the traffic alerts are a pain in the ass so i turned that off.

tell him to by my snooper s4 neo instead. ;)

Its not his mate its mine.

How much are you selling the snooper for???

StellaZ and Cadpaul, i have just taken this off the road angel FAQ's on their site:

My Road Angel does not display my speed, it just displays 'Searching for satellites'

Road Angel has an internal GPS receiver that needs to have a view of the sky in order to obtain the satellite signals required to calculate it’s position. Road Angel needs to be positioned on the dashboard of the vehicle or by using the windscreen bracket in order to do this. For discreet mounting, an antenna can be used. Click here for more information. Some vehicles, for example Renault, Citroen, Peugeot some BMWs and Mercedes have what is known as an Athermic, comfort or UV windscreen. This interferes with the satellite signal being received by Road Angel which results in either no speed being displayed, intermittent or erratic speeds. An antenna will be required, click here for more information.

So the problem is his windsrceen, tell him to try putting it on his passenger seat until he finds a signal through his side window then put on the dash ;)

 nothing wrong with it, just i'm running around in a small car that has'nt got the power to go over the speed limit, the neo pick's up the van's, but the camera has to have been set off for it to pick up the scatter, it just plug's in and play's, good pice of kit.

Same as mine, it'll pick them up if they go off but if they are just sitting there watching the cars go by it doesn't.
