not used the Zed in about 2 months

thought i would start her up and get it running for a bit, get the oil round the engine etc

anyway

batt was flat, thought it would be so i jumped it, got it running, all sounded sweet

turned it off cose i was gona wash the car, batt flat again, jumped her again and sumthing was knocking (sounded like sumthing from the front of the engine, like sumthing had come lose)

turned it off again, started it again and the knocking had gone and replaced with what sounded a noisy tappet

gona check the oil 2morrow, it should be fine cose there are no leaks on the driveway and the oil was changed a coupld of months back

really werid

any ideas?

is it because the car has not been ran for a while??

thanks

Mark

could be oil is not up to the top yet, there could be an air bubble in one of the lifters too.

should be ok, if it wasnt there before, just let her run mate

knocking maybe not enough power in the battery, and knocking the settings about a bit

get the battery charged, and stop jumpoing it, thats not good for the car

Bud mine always sounded rattly when it was left for a couple of weeks!

soon quietened down tho'-don't keep start/stopping tho' as this does more harm than good!-just let it tick-over and get to temp-with the odd blip on the throttle to throw the oil around! ;)

I have same noise as well zed been off road for couple months, usually start it 2/3 times a week, wot oil are you using dude? im using millers 5-40 fully synt however ive noticed that tapping noise on mine starts when car reachs operating temp and is deffo top of engine.

It's quite common .. the Z likes to be driven ... if it isn't it gets a bit pissed off .. it will quieten down with use .. it is it's way of telling you DRIVE ME MORE

:-)

i had the exact same problem a couple of weeks ago. dead battery after the car had sat in the bodyshop for 2 weeks then been used for short journeys in the cold with heaters on etc ( :nono: ). it had a light loose-tappet kind of noise which went away soon afterwards. i think it was more to do with the cold but as long as it goes then im happy :)
