as legrath said brembo plain discs and porterfield pads or for a few quid cheaper mintex pads which are still v.good and last well will set you back between 250-£300 for front upgrade,

also clean the calliper pistons up aswell, its all good and well having decent brakes but if the callipers are in need of a clean/overhaul-you wont get the best out of the brakes

Ferodo pads and brembo discs

IMHO Ferodo pads are about the best money can buy or if not them then EBC Red stuff ones are also good

evo 8 calipers, 350z 324mm discs and adaptor brackets less than £300. i did the upgrade on my z and braking is 10 times better. if it wasn't for the abs i could lock the front wheels up at any speed.

bargain!

Sounds like a bargain....where is a good source, or is it a case of keeping an eye on ebay ?

yeh but try and find some, whats the likely hood of finding some i thought evos had brembo callipers as standard?so not really needed to be upgraded, unless there running stupid hp

2 sets on ebay right now. ;) Seem to be a lot more readily available that the skyline sets. Yep, they are Brembo's.

Where do you get the brackets to fit the Evo caliper to the Zed?

My mate made mine up for me, just a straight piece of ss 20mm x 10mm mark the centre, measure from the centre 100mm each way. weld 2 spacers 28mm long on to the bar and drill 2 holes for the caliper bolts.can't remember the distance from the centre for the position of the z hub, but this hole is tapped to take a bolt. and thats all there is to it.

of course if you want to get some serious stopping power then you need some serious brakes :D

im interested in the EVO 8 setup

what about the Skyline setup? what does that involve?

what sort of prices would both setups set me back

thanks guys

Skyline brakes are the easiest upgrade as there just bolt on to the existing hub holes using existing bolts or is you get some R34 then you need slightly bigger bolts and they go for between £400 and £700 for the R34 ones

The EVO calipers tend to go for around £300 but as said above you need to fabricate some hub adaptors.

If its the easy option then its got to be the skyline option

The evo calipers r twice the size of the standard z calipers you'll need 17" wheels for these to fit.ill dig py pics out and post them for you.

im running 18's at the mo so i should be fine fitting them

the EVO setup, does it fit nicely?

hard to fit??

thanks

jonnyz32 has fitted some evo brakes and made his own fitting plates up so may be worth asking him ;)

Here you do mate.

Thanks for the pics.

Does that adapter work with the bigger 350z discs then as it looks like it just has the mounting holes further apart, not further away from the hub?

yes it does, i have 324mm 350z discs and the evo 8 calipers.

So the Evo caliper's bracket must place the caliper further from the hub to start with?

same positon just 29mm further out.
