Hi All,

I recently had my car MOTed. I know the guys that did it, and they passed it no problems, but they did warn me about the foglight. They've put a note about it on the invoice saying it's not bright enough, and also is a bit obscured when viewed from anywhere but straight behind. They've said I should get something done about it before it's next MOTed.

My car is a J-Spec and has had a foglight added in the centre panel on the RHS where the reversing lights are. Now I know some of you guys must have also had to deal with this issue so I was wondering what you did about it?

I *really* don't want to stick one of those bolt-on ones on the bottom of the bumper -- they look utterly crap. So what have others done? Is it worth getting a UK spec rear bumper with the foglights built in? Or is there some way I can make a light mounted in the centre panel more effective? I think I'd probably prefer to do the latter as at some point I may want to replace that bumper anyway.

Also could I use the brakelight in the spoiler as a fog light? Alternatively could I mount an LED strip in the rear window in some way... although then I guess I'd need to worry about the tint bubbling due to heat if it was on for a while.

Thanks,

Bart

i had my two innner brake lights converted into fogs looks like a stock fitment. but i need to fit a relay into the system as i get the blown bulb light!

my new fog lights... mmmmmm

I had the spoiler light wired as the fog light, and only connected it up at the time of the MOT - other wise I had it connected as the high-level brake light. Everyone seemed OK about it - passed MOT's all of the time. And it didn't mess up the back of the car. Simple to wire up and simple to change from fog to brake.

Mind you if the plod ever stopped me and the rear fog wasn't working - I could be in trouble - but they never did.

Since sold the car and my current JDM NA Z has one set flush in the rear bumper - quite a neat solution.

cheerz
