Yes, I was driving my car (Karlosg's old car) through Bangor, driving under the speed limit when I noticed a copper sneakily parked up. I though 'Oh sh!t, here we go' & sure enough, the fooker pulled out & started following me. After about half a mile the lights come on, so I pull over.

Sarcastic b@stard says 'what does your front registration number say?'!! He was reffering to the reduced sized number plate on the front of my car. I explained that I had only just bought the car and hadn't had the log book back, therefore couldn't get a full sized plate made up! (something that I fully intended to do as I know what the b@stards around here are like!)

This wasn't good enough for North Wales finest, no I got a fine  He said that I shouldn't have been driving the car as it was illegal FFS!

I was sooo pissed off, not so much because of the fine but because of his unwillingness to understand my situation.

As soon as he started filling out that form I knew that was it, so I sarcastically asked him if he was getting bonus points for nicking me & whether they were short of work :mac1:

You guys are lucky that you don't live up here, they really are w@nkers!

Yeah, I'm tempted to buy a fast bike & take the plates off so that I can give them the middle finger & do a runner Lol.

cool!! Are the allowed to use "the stinger" on bikes? Shouldn't think so as it's likely to kill the rider!!!

surely if you get a fine by the cops and then another fine by DVLA, that is getting punished twice for the same offence which in this country is illegal??? I may be wrong...

Not once been pulled for my number plate by North Wales plod, but it is full size. However it's a stick on and is only 6.5 degrees from horizontal

Guys i know this aint muc help but i gotta admit...............London Police i have found seem to be the best when dealing with traffic and motoring issues.

Unless you proper wind them up.........they usually just give you a ear bashing and then let you on your way!

All the other Police Forces i seem to come across are just W4NKERS!

They even take the piss when it comes to dealing with them at work.........they never get the damn paper work done right!

What colour you going for then?

Shaun was one of them a tool guy with short hair and a goaty beard? Other one shorter with dark hair? Sounds like Pinky and Perky to me! Were they traffic in a T-5?

replace 'tool' with 'tall' DOH! :D

There is an official DVLA or Department of Traffic document out there which clearly states that non-standards sized front plates are legally acceptable if there isn't sufficient space to secure a regular size plate. This is mainly aimed at Japanese imports as a lot of them only have a small area where the plate can be mounted. If I can find it I'll post up a copy. Suggest you print it off and keep it in the car and produce it the next time you get pulled over for this reason. From memory I can't say whether the 99-spec front bumper has a number plate mount or not - if it does then it would be interesting to measure it and see if it matches your plate size. If it does, and you have access to the above document, then you've got a case to challenge the fine.

Right, off to trawl my HDD now for this document.

Dan

PS - this doesn't work for standard J-spec bumpers as they (a) do not have a mounting plate and (b) there is plenty of space to mount a UK-spec plate (like on mine) which is full size.

stupid rules and porr implementation are fooking this country up.

It's the day of the jobsworth/beaurocrat - the law and the police have too much power and too little acountability.

The 99 spec does have a plate mount, although there is ofcourse still plenty of space for fullsize plate...so not sure where you stand on that.

I imagine that rule applies more to the rear bumper, where there is only space for a Square Jap plate.

What colour you going for then?

I dont wanna say yet!!!! :x:

Id rather just turn up and let people see for themselves

Wont be too long now though! ;)

NORTH WALES POLICE = :xxx: :xxx: :xxx: :xxx: :xxx: :xxx:

One day I'll remove my plates and take the p1ss in front of them down the A55. That'll wipe the smile off the clever tw@ts' faces

Oh yeah, the worst part of it is that the copper took pictures of the reg plate to send of to the DVLA. The DVLA can then choose to prosecute & fine up to £1000!! :(

Guess what?

Just been pulled over by ............ NORTH WALES POLICE surprise surprise.

Just asked me if I'd been drinking though and didn't check over the car. It was the same guy that chased me in the Z once but couldn't prove my speed - LOL. Shame he didn't notice my bald tyres - must get them done now. They're really on a mission round here so don't be tempted to visit this God-forsaken place over Christmas FFS!

Mark you don't even live in what I define as satan country bud, I now live just outside Mold and FFS I hardly EVER see traffic or even normal cop cars!

Drive around on Anglesey or around Caernarfon/Bangor and you will soon get the drift as to what a fascist police invionment is all about! FACT!!! ;)

I got my MR windows tinted with the (IMO) lovely gold to black tint and then Jen's Dad decided to have the R5 Tubby done with the same, he got stopped going to the local shop twice in two days!

Trust me guys, they are on a mission down there, glad that I moved from there! Nice scenery but the cops have f\/ck all better to do.

No points thank goodness. Just hope I don't get fined by the DVLA!

PM should be with you now Karl.

Shaun

Hi Shaun,

I'd write to the chief constable mate. I know Brunstrom is a complete w@nker but you have a good reason IE you did just buy the car and can prove it.

Say that instead of the fine, the matter should have been dealt with using a simple "notice to rectify the problem within 14 days (or it is 7?)" or whatever it is called.

Basically the copper serves this notice and you take the car to your nearest plod-station within the specified time to show them you have fixed the matter. It ends there, no fine or anything. Say that you intend to contest the fine in court (although in reality you won't as the fine is cheaper) and they may drop the charge.

It is deffo worth the cost of a letter, mate.

Richard :smw:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I know exactly what u mean mate, been had for doin 34 by an 'Arrive Alive' van. Arrive fooking alive? What a load of *****x...more likely they need some more money so they screw a few more of us over.

I've been stopped more times in north wales than i've had hot dinners, they always make me late and have more interest in if its mine than whats wrong with it. Like i said to the last one after i'd been stopped three times in one afternnon, when asked if it was mine i answered no mate, thought it was the most inconspicuous car in the carpark so i stole it!! He didn't see the funny side. After that he stood there and told me how they get 5 points for every stop and ticket and they have to do 500 a month or week or something. Its complete b@llox, i dunno why we have to live in a country that picks on the good guys instead of going out there and actually protecting us with the money WE PAY THEM out of OUR WAGES.

So i totally understand what u mean guys, its not on and something needs to be done about it otherwise this torching of cameras and pullin em out will turn into assault of officers and general hate for the law which is not what we need. They made 2 million pounds last YEAR from motoring offences. How s*it is that? ANd they say police forces are low on funds so can't provide a complete police prescence.

I'll leave you with that thought guys and just hope that nooone gets the ususal 'picked on cos its xmas' situation arrising cos of our cars.

Oh and by the way i had that plate problem, just told the officer to go away and learn the law cos jap spec plates are legal. He goton the radio and to his suprise found out there were!!

Take care guys and enjoy your rides, have a revolving plate fitted at the back next time hehehe!!!

Lets us try to get through xmas without one of us being picked on for loving the zed.
