hi guys, i have had my zed for 6 months now and love it! i have a couple of problems though and need some help.

my car is a 1992 uk twin turbo. it is standard apart from apexi intake and blueflame catback. did an oil change 2500 miles ago (4 months ago) with castrol 10w-60. I'm due another change soon, is there anything you guys suggest I change?

i have already done an ecu check and get the OK (code 55)

firstly, the idle is a bit rough regardless of if its hot or cold, but the spark plugs have never been changed (car has done 40,500 miles): is a spark plug change likely to fix this?

secondly, more recently on a cold start after not using the car 3 days, it would sometimes feel like the engine is about to stall at traffic lights; the revs drop and feels like its misfiring occasionally. when the car warms up this problem goes.

thridly, after the engine warms, there is a small strange rattle sound that seems like its coming from the top of the engine... when i rev the car the rattle stops, but when the revs drop the sound starts again: does this sound like a VVT spring problem?

fourthly, (very rarely) while driving in the city while the car is warmed up, the revs seem to go up at traffic lights, does this sound like a TPS problem?

Do all the above problems seem linked to any single cause? my car has a standard series 1 ptu, would changing the ptu to a series 2 likely fix any of these problems?

HICAS problem.

one of my subframe bushes is worn, which I intend to change soon to a set of poly bushes. However, I have a HICAS problem. I know this sounds dumb, but I am not sure what the code readout means from the car diagnostic. below is the code readout:

Long flash (start of sequence)

4 short flashes

1 long flash

2 short flashes

2 long flashes

what does this mean?

thanks in advance guys, and sorry if this doesnt make sense I wrote it in a rush!

could be a boost leak causing a slight irrtic idle or slight missfire a good clean up of all the connections wouldnt hurt also have the spark plugs changed

here you go where and how to check for missfires causes etc, check ptu connections are clean aswell

sounds like a possible lifter sticking try a good engine flush and some good quality oil do a search for vvt spring was mentioned not to long ago
