Iridium Plugs

I have heard good and bad comments about Iridium spark plugs, but I have just ordered a set from my local factors for £10 each, which I think is a good price.

The plugs are Denso IK20.

The factors are Ajay Autoparts if anyone is interested.

Tim,

Let me know how you get on with them mate. I am very intrigued by these, I asked ages ago about them and Maciej mentioned that he'd had problems running them and took them out!

Timmy,

Just been reading though TT.net, there's nothing conclusive, it's about 50/50 I guess.

Yea, I'll let you know. smile.gif

Timmy.

S40i. Nuff Z

Sunday.

Use em all the time mate No probs

I have them..think Blitz ones...Johnny sourced them..car never missed a beat!!!!

Denso are allegedly the OEM for Blitz and HKS, please correct me if I'm wrong. oh and £5 per plug cheaper smile.gif

I want some.

Jezz.

Jezz, yep, I've been told that the HKS plugs are just rebranded Denso.

Are you saying that the Denso IK20s are £5 cheaper than the HKS?

If anyone really wants a set of these I can try and sort it with my supplier.

Johnny's post about the S40i show the equivalent Denso Iridium plugs as IK24! Jananese Denso site

I know that RC charge £14.50 + VAT for HKS Irids.

And one of our boys paid £68 for 4 HKS for his 200sx.

I'll try to find out exactly what the S13 takes, but I think we are looking at a 8 temp grade. I'm running coppers 8's atm.

I have either the Blits or HKS ones and paid about £80 for a set of 6.

Running smooth as anything.

I'm running S40i's and the cars a lot happier. Looking at the HKS box that the S40's come in along with all the japanese it does say "produced by the Denso Corp."

I paid £54 for a set from RC Developements.

Judging by your name that's £54 for 4 then?

Yeah he's one of our lot. smile.gif

There is a tiny crappy motor factors 1/4 mile down the road from me who sells Denso, will drop in at some point to find out what the deal is.

Jezz.

I have just spoken to my supplier and there is a possible group buy on the Iridium plugs.

If we buy 10 sets of IK20's, i.e. 60 plugs in total.

I can get the cost down to £55 + VAT & P&P per set of 6.

Let me know if anyone is interested.

Tim if it turns out that IK20's are what we need for either the S13 or S14 can we jump in on your GB?

Do you know what heat range they are in proper money, 7's , 8's?

Jezz.

A lot of people running high boost have had problems with the Denso iridium plugs - plus the electrodes are quiet brittle and you will need to gap them correctly when you get them. They are heavilly used the Japanese GT races tho - so There must be something in them!

I will stick to the Nissan ones for the time being since they are plenty cold enuff for a engine that is just sitting on FU**ING BLOCKS ALL BLEEDING DAY LONG ......

Love and regards.

Okay,

Bit of research from the Denso site:

IK24: Thread 14mm, Reach 19mm, Heat 8, Gap 0.8mm/0.32" HKS equivalent = S40i

IK22: Thread 14mm, Reach 19mm, Heat 7, Gap 0.8mm/0.32" HKS equivalent = S35i

IK20: Thread 14mm, Reach 19mm, Heat 6, Gap 1.1mm/0.44"

IK16: Thread 14mm, Reach 19mm, Heat 5, Gap 1.18mm/0.44"

Heat: 8 = cold - - - 5 = warm.

Good explanation of plug temps here

4 x 24's for me then smile.gif

Do you have to order all the same type?

Would be handy if not cos some people may only want 20's

I'll do the running around on our board if you like.

Nice work Tim. smile.gif

Jezz.

Jezz,

I'll check with my supplier tomorrow, about whether they all need to be the same spec. So don't take any firm orders yet wink.gif

If we don't get enough for the GB, the cost will be £11.75 per plug + P&P, that is assuming that they are all the same price as the IK20s smile.gif

Tim

If the GB has to be 60+ and we can mix them then I'd have though that we would get the numbers.

I'll check this thread, but incase I forget mail me, even @ £11.75 thats pretty good. Is that with VAT?

Jezz.

Jezz,

I would have thought that we'd be okay mixing and matching, I'll have to check, I'd obviously spec'd it on 10 sets for the Zed. Hadn't counted on our siblings wink.gif

Yes, the price I paid today was £10 each + VAT, so, £11.75 + P&P, and I'm not out of pocket smile.gif

Tim

Oh and WTF is Iridium?

Some super-rare precious metal?

All of my pairs of Oakleys have it on them.

Do you mind our involvment, big bro. smile.gif

I feel I have barged in a bit, sorry.

I'd say for anyone running higher than std boost that should be looking at the 22's, then the nutters should be running 24's. smile.gif

Kind 200sx boy Papa-Lazrou has given me this comparison chart.

Stu, if Tim can sort it so that he can get a mixed batch then I was going to go onto our board to get numbers, I'm sure there a fair few of us that want them.

And yup 24's biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

I think you'd better get 27's though m8. wink.gif

Jezz.

Nice one, Ill hold fire for a little and see what happens then. Cheers Jezz, and thank you bigger brothers wink.gif
