Hi Peeps,

I need a new chip for my computer, and since I'm capable of socketing it myself, I'd rather not send it off anywhere. (But not too bothered if I have too, just trying to save some cash)

I know of JWT (obviously), and have heard that SE do their own chip.

Of course it needs to be mapped to my engine specifics, blah blah.. Any thoughts on where in the UK I might get my hands on one.

(8 months of no Z are hopefully coming to a close now - just need injectors, ecu and exhaust and I'll be able to start it again)

Thanks in advance

Simon.

Simon the SE chip is custom mapped for your car,so if you want more power let SE do it.The JWT chip is good but has a mild power increase compared to the SE one,ask ChrisC or Andyp on this forum,as they have tried both.

Partially true ! SE have more than one chip. They have at least one basic model, which I'd guess is what Tim has (as it's labelled SE 01) and they will also map a chip specifically for your car, although that will be alot more expensive as it will involve a day on a rolling road or whatever. I think[i/] the basic price starts around £125 for the chip alone - but don't quote me on that.

Andy the Timmy chip is the basic one then?it is still designed for your spec car,but it still provides more power than the JWT? Chris tried my SE chip in his car and with the boost set low, the car was still producing more power.

Cheers Mac1 n Andy. Another question, will the car be drivable with my standard computer and 555 injectors - and least to do the 40 miles to SE? Or should i stick it on a trailer?

Si.

If it does run then it'll be REALLY rough. My guess is though that it won't even start as it'll be way over rich.

You shouldn't get any detonation though !
