Blue Smoke

I have blue smoke from the exhaust.

Only happens when I am at idle speed

Only when the car is heating up, or when it is at operating temp.

Car is fine when cold.

Only other issue is car takes too long to heat up, but I think that is a thermostat problem.

I am thinking along the lines of valve stem oil seals

or piston rings

Any ideas much appreciated.

But please - don't suggest credit cards at the ready or anything to do with getting a bank loan

if it were valve stem oil seals it would usually do it when cold and as they heat up and expand this when then dissapear unless there proper fooked

if it were rings it would smoke all the time especially under load

my money would be on either your pcv system or turbo seals

one requires a credit card one doesn't ;) :D

That takes out rings and stem seals then.

Under load the car performs fine.

Under big load it's great, but no smoke.

Coasting to a halt, or idling in McDonalds drive thru is an embarassment.

ps - it's an auto, so coasting I am still in gear

all these symptoms sound similar to mine , in july, mine is auto also , but i needed new turbos seals, which were fitted with uprated turbos slightly that is , silly not to really considering the cost, for removal . but its a lot of work if you dont no what your doing

hope its the pcvs.,. good luck ,

The pcv's are quite straight forward so at least you can get that done and then see how it is.
