Hi does any1 know a link about safety boost or tell me the basics about it: like - what sort of problems can put your car into safety boost and to get it out of safety boost is it simply a case of fixing any problems it has and it automatically comes out safety? + if you had a twin turbo is really really noticeable if its in safety boost?

:headvswal

I believe, the car will come out of saftey as soon as you restart it, but if you have a problem, it will go back.

you should only get around 0.5 bar boost if in saftey i think.

try checking codes for any faults

done ECU check which said ma right 02 sensors knackered.

Don't think mines is in safety because was told you would definetly be able 2 tell the difference, its just that ever since i was told about safety boost, i started feeling its not been as fast......paranoid :headvswal i think lol

To help fuel consumption i want a switch or something that will put my turbos in safety mode. How could i do this plz?

yes you can tell the difference between safety and full boost - more so if youre used to the full 9 or 9.5psi or whatever it is then suddenly find youre only running 7. to fix safety boost, get the error code(s) and fix the problem :D

Xav if you want to be able to switch boost levels, try a boost controller, then you can dial in whatever you want :D

Is dodgy sensors the sort of problem that can make your car go into safety mode or is it something more serious.

Only things i know thats wrong is knackered o2 sensor + knackered speed sensor but car absolutley reeks of petrol really badly all the time aswell+dunno if its in safety

dodgy sensors arnt the only thing to cause saftey boost engine detting can cause this but it would show up on conzult if the engine had detted.but if your fuel leak is bad enough to cause low fuel pressure this would cause det.just a thought.and yes i think safty boost is noticable.having said that if yer ecu is chipped it wont go into saftey boost it will just retard the timing and possibly alter yer fuel map

think you can check det sensor via ecu test but if not ya need to find someone with conzult.but deffo get fuel leak seen to :)

no

safety mode is probably the most inefficient way to run the engine, timing gets way retarded and it runs rich as hell, its there to prrotect the engine and limp home, not to run ecconomicaly

Safety mode is very noticable. Boost reduced to 7psi, retarded timing and Rich fuel maps. Whats scary is that many new zed owners purchase and run their car for many months before ever finding out they are in safety mode.

We had a Zed Rolling road tested while in safety mode earlier in the year, it was down by approx 100bhp at the fly.

Dodgy o2 sensors would also make the car run Rich, affecting performance and economy.

Ah ok safety mode is bad. I asked the wizards at Zedworld if i could use a boost controller if i could reduce the boost and they said i could not really. If i cant i will live with it. But if i can save even 10% of fuel a week i will make changes.

See if i replace ma o2 sensors then reset the ecu does that mean the fuel map plus the timimg would return to normal?

+

When i did ECU check it said only the right one was fUked does that mean i only need to change the one, or is it better to just change both?

Have you checked the condidtion of the connectors ?

check for green sh!t, clean them, and retest

Yes

and

Yes

but las mentioned, check its not just a nad connection. follow the wiring from the O2 sensor to the connecctors on the bulkhead and check they're in good condition

failing that about 70 quid will get u a new one
