i was wondering if any of you's lads have these vans, or know anything about them

we have one at work (ford transit t260 diesel) and its starting to jump out of second gear and crunching into second gear, we have had it to a local ford dealer who said it could be the clutch cable ( i dont fooking thinkso)

they adjusted the cable and its no better so we phoned them back up and told them, there reply was "its the cable we have had a few in with this prob, and a new cable sorts it out" (again i dont fookin think so)

anyone know if this is a common fault on them, or do you know what it could be (its a 2001 y reg i think)

cheers in advance

allan

We have a 54 reg one on our engineers fleet too.

I went to the garage to collect it last week after having a new clutch fitted as the driver reckoned 2nd gear was difficult to engage.....

......and what do you know, it still was  . It doesn't jump out of gear but does crunch on changing into 2nd, around 50% on the time. The van has done 40k miles and now I know it is not the clutch so I guess it must be a common fault. Luckily our is still under warranty so I'll get it sent back again.

If I find out what it is. I'll let you know.

A mate of mine had a works one and exactly the same thing crunching and jumpin happened wiv his, he didnt find the outcome cause he got made redundant !!!

we have several of these vans at work so far 2 of them have suffered this problem it was the syncro on the box get new box or just avoid 2nd gear

yup front wheel drive

Just wondered mate,as they probably meant the gearshift cables??-front wheel drive version have these and if not 100% can make shifts difficult.

Just a thought!-all millenium trannys are shite anyway! :o ;)
