Can high side winds stall a Z?

As I was just driving back to work, each time my Z was struck by a strong side wind the revs dropped, do you think strong side winds could affect a stock air box, in the same way you cant breathe properly in a strong head wind?

Or was my PTU just picking a good time to flake out smile.gif

WHAT?

That is a very strange notion.

Personally I cant see how it can, unless you your spark plugs are candles and are blowing out.

I have not noticed anything like that happening to my car.

Its quite strange, it happened 3 times while my car was idling in a carpark, each time a strong gust of wind shook the car the revs dropped from 700 to under 500 confused.gif

I wondered if a vacuum was created by the strong wind causing the car to stumble at idle due to lack of incoming air, as when I kept the revs up it seemed fine

oh well I'm off to my padded cell smile.gif

Could it be that the airflow meter is taking a gust of wind but not knowing why as the rest of the engine sensors have not changed.

I remember a mate of mine removing the air filter and rigging up a 6 inch wide pipe from his airbox to the front skirt to give a bit of forced air induction to his Cavalier SRI 130. Worked really well until he hit a deep puddle at 40mph and destroyed the engine! LOL
