So it seems I can afford the insurance on one.

So, I am selling my car for £4000.

What sort of 300zx will that give me.

I've noticed that a lot of the UK spec ones are quite high millage, but being a V6 the revs arnt high so engine wear shouldnt be too bad??

Jap imports tend to have a lot less miles but insurance will go up by 200-300 pounds.

Would it be better to go jap with lower miles and higher insurnace or just go fot the UK spec.

What do you guys recon???

I went for a UK one, due to the lower insurance and a full servie history, and touch wood, it has never gone seriously wrong on me.

Mine has just over 100k on the enginge now, and it's still runs like a dream.

There are better things to spend £4000 on. Like a top-notch home cinema/hi-fi system. In 5 years you'll still have a top-notch system - whereas the car will have cost you another £4000 and will be worth about £1000.

I bought one, and they are great cars, but the novelty wore off -but I'm not a totoal petrol-head. If u live and breath cars, then maybe get one -but get a good 1, as they can be loads of trouble and very expensive to repair. Get UK for insurance. But check prices, as lots of sellers ask way too much.

I'd personally pay more for lower mileage.

:slap: 4k on a hi-fi, each to their own I guess, but this is a 300zx forum, not what hi-fi forum, and these cars are at about the cheapest they are going to get, and after 4 years you've still got a top-notch car, not an out of date cd player :slap:

Mine is import TT and insurance was no worse for that ?

Shop around with some specialist companys you may be pleasently surprised

please dont mention those fookin speakers again....

I reckon you'll get a decent one for £4k, but watch out for rust on UK models - not so much of a problem on Japs. Jap specs tend to be in better general condition, but have their drawbacks (insurance being the main one). Also, with J spec, you'll have more choice of variant (SWB or 2+2, targa or slick top, twin turbo or NA, auto or manual), IIRC with UK you only get the choice of 2+2 twin turbo, auto or manual.

I would go for lower mileage, it will most likely pay itself back sooner or later.

Talking about hi-fi systems, I would personally NEVER, EVER put that much money in a hi-fi system!

You could get 3 sets of the best speakers in the world and have enough left over to subscribe to every forum on the planet to tell us about them

Only jestin Nelson!

£4k will buy you a very tidy NA or a pretty good TT, but always look for good service history!

Mine is a jap import with only 56k on the clock.. and hasnt gone wrong.. just me..

Beat me to it lol

Soz, someone had to do it!!

What part of the UK are you from, as im sure if you find a nice Z, someone from that surrounding area in the club will go with you to look at the car!! But, if you want a good car, keep an eye out in the cars for sale section, if its from a long standing member, you can check all there old posts to see if there's been any probs with the car!!

Plus, You should get a much better car from an enthusiast than a side of the road trader!!

Agreed, an enthusiasts car will be much better, i mean you won't get a multi coloured patchwork zed from a garage!

ive got a 92 j reg uk tt, i lase the living daylights out of it, i gets lashed when cold and simply switched off when ive got where im going

its rusty as fook, but thats nowt compared to the huge dint in the side (due to an unisured driver sucking himself off whilst driving)

its cost me about 3500 pounds in repairs (cause i lash it all over) and i love it

its got lots of history and has served me well (in the 18 months ive had it)

so the theory off jap spec cars being better than uk ones is *****cks in my opinion, it all depends on how you treat and maintain it

there you go my ten pence worth :D
