i have been looking at this since before xmas, and i have a contact who can do it for me.

As long as the car is driveable, then it can be shipped over by ferry like a normal import. But the value is much lower, so import duty and vat is very low.

The cars cost from around £1000 upwards for one with a low mileage engine, ferry is about £400 or so, and then bloodsuck C&E about £300 on that value.

I was specifically after an engine and gearbox, and possibly tidier interior.

The only problem i saw afterwards, was getting rid of parts that you dont need.

It is hard enough now to get rid of standard brakes, shocks, wheels etc, as almost everyone upgrades.....

I am just waiting for the guy to come back from holiday before pursuing again.

What are you looking for ?

I have a friend here in Poland who can get you a super low mileage (around 15k km) TT engine complete with turbos for around $2000-$3000... He got one for himself for somewhere around there and it's flawless... Anyone interested?

good idea but why bother as jap parts in oldham already do it. i've been up there and they have got rafts of second hand spare parts on the shelf or out in their yard still on the scrappers

Craig,

We need to talk. UK Jap car breakers still charge heavily for second hand parts on these cars as demand is increasing. Purchasing a damaged Z seems a good idea when you consider that you have access to almost all the parts you will need. Obviously a low mileage example is a must. Its OK getting hold of another engine but you need to consider all the other add-on bits that can go wrong. The amount of times that I could of done with another part just to prove whether the suspect part was actually faultly or not!

UK breakers charge well over a grand for an engine(without turbos etc), 600 for auto box, 250 for ECU, 200 for Steering rack blah blah blah.

The only problem I can forsee is ensuring that a you get a low mileage example and storing the bloody thing.

Let me know when you get hold of this guy again. Might be able to share a container !

I need a 1990 TT Auto 2+2

Don't worry about being able to get rid of stock parts. The blood sucking breakers will break your hands for them!

Andy
