sounds like a bearing cage has broken and is being ground around the bearings, same sort of noize a crank shaft makes when fooked on a push bike.. grinding away, really loudly.

 

i can feel it and hear it in the car.

 

i have been told it could be the universal joint as its common to go, but im wondering if its the bearing cage in the jacket tube assembly?? that the column runs through as there is a bearing cage at the top of this.

 

advice please guys and can i replace this bearing cage if need be?? cant see anything on courtesy nissan.
